UFC is back for its latest PPV, this time back in the United States. A month removed from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, UFC 252 will take place on August 15th at the company’s APEX facility in Las Vegas. The card features a massive heavyweight title main event, and opens at 7 p.m. with the early preliminary card. The PPV will air on ESPN+.
The second fight on the main card is a bantamweight bout between 12th ranked John Dodson and 15th ranked Merab Dvalishvili. The fight opened with Dvalishvili a -200 favorite and Dodson a +160 underdog. The line has expanded since with the public backing Dvalishvili in a big way.
Dvalishvili is 11-4 in his career with only three wins by stoppage. He’s won four straight, all by decision, and Saturday marks his PPV debut. Meanwhile, Dodson is 21-11 with 12 wins by stoppage, including 10 by KO or TKO. He’s turned into a gate-keeper at best at bantamweight. He is coming off a third-round TKO of Nathaniel Wood at UFC Fight Night 167, but prior to that lost two straight and five of his last eight.
