UFC is back for its latest PPV, this time back at its APEX facility in Las Vegas. A month removed from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, UFC 252 will take place on August 15th, with the early preliminary card starting at 7 p.m. The main card is headlined by Miocic-Cormier III for the heavyweight title, and will air on ESPN+.
The penultimate fight on the card is a bantamweight bout between 14th-ranked Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera. O’Malley is one of the more high profile fighters in UFC of late and opened as a sizable favorite. Sizable money has come in his direction, but some sharp action would seem to be moving the line a little bit for the underdog Vera.
O’Malley is 12-0 with nine wins by stoppage, eight of them by KO or TKO. He knocked out Eddie Wineland in the first round of his las fight at UFC 250. Since winning on The Ultimate Fighter in 2017, O’Malley has won three straight fights, all on PPV. After two decisions to open his time with UFC, he’s won two straight by KO or TKO.
Vera is 15-6 with 13 wins by stoppage, eight of them by submission. He’s coming off a unanimous decision loss to Yadong Song on UFC on ESPN 8 in May. This marks his first UFC PPV since beating Nohelin Hernandez by submission at UFC 239.
