After he submitted Evan Dunham with a rear naked choke in the first round during the preliminary card of UFC 250, Herbert Burns went on to make even more news.
The victorious fighter dropped in post-fight press conference that the “Fight Island” Dana White has been teasing for weeks is in Abu Dhabi.

The thought behind a Fight Island was one of the first ideas the UFC President had when the world went into a Covid-19 lockdown. Originally thought to be a venue as early as UFC 249, that event ended up in Jacksonville. UFC 250 ended up in Las Vegas on the company’s own campus, and is where Burns fought and won tonight.
With travel difficult for so many foreign athletes to reach the USA, the thought behind the island is it will give an opportunity for international UFC fighters the chance to compete. That includes lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who would have his choice of big-time opponents for superfights from Justin Gaethje to Conor McGregor.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, we’ll see what White says during his post-card press conference this evening after Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer at UFC 250, which is still in progress as of this writing.
