UFC 250 gets underway this Saturday at 6 p.m. ET, marking the first PPV at the organization’s Apex facility since before the pandemic shut it down. The preliminary card gets started just after 6 p.m. on ESPN. The main card will air on ESPN+ as a PPV, and is headlined by Amanda Nunes defending her featherweight championship against Felicia Spencer.
The first fight of the main card features a bantamweight bout between Eddie Wineland and Sean O’Malley. Wineland is an established veteran while O’Malley is young and undefeated. O’Malley is sitting as a heavy favorite in this fight.
Wineland is 24-13-1 and coming off a second round knockout victory against Grigory Popov at UFC 238 almost exactly a year ago. However, prior to that he had lost five of his previous eight fights. He is landing 3.21 significant strikes per minute and absorbing 3.41 per minute.
O’Malley is 11-0 and coming off a first round TKO of Jose Alberto Quinonez at UFC 248 in March. However, prior to that fight he had not fought in UFC since winning a unanimous decision over Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 in March of 2018. He was scheduled to face Marlon Vera in July 2019 at UFC 239, but was suspended for six months due to a failed test for ostarine. He is landing 6.8 significant strikes per minute and absorbing 4.63 per minute.
