Brok Weaver misses weight, fight against Roosevelt Roberts will still happen

The lightweight wasn’t light enough when on the scales, and will forfeit some of his purse for his fight Saturday night.

Brok Weaver has missed weight at the weigh-in for his bout against Roosevelt Roberts at UFC Fight Night tomorrow night in Las Vegas.

Weaver tipped the scales at 157.5 pounds, when the weight limit for the class is 155 pounds. There is a one-pound forgiveness range, but he’s still outside of that by 1.5 and that has consequences.

For the miss, 20% of Weaver’s purse will be turned over to his opponent Roosevelt Roberts, and the fight will still take place at a catchweight.

Weaver was already an underdog for the fight, coming in as a +255 underdog to Roberts at -335. His Native American background has inspired many from his tribe in Alabama, and his fights do tend to go the distance where the extra weight might be helpful: He’s gone to the scorecards in eight of his 15 career MMA wins as a professional, but missing weight in only his second UFC appearance isn’t a great look.
