Kevin Holland drops out of fight vs. Daniel Rodriguez, Gabriel Green named replacement

Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez were set to square off in a welterweight bout at UFC on ESPN on May 30th, but UFC newcomer Gabriel Green will replace Holland due to injury

Update, May 27 9:39 a.m. May 27th: MMAFighting.com is reporting Gabriel Green will replace Holland at UFC on ESPN May 30th. Green will be making his UFC debut, and is fighting for the first time since August 2018. He has a 9-2 professional record including wins in his last six fights.

Welterweight Kevin Holland has dropped out of his fight with Daniel Rodriguez that was scheduled for May 30th as part of UFC Fight Night.

According to MMAFighting.com Holland as an undisclosed injury that has forced his withdrawal. He confirmed the injury on Instagram as well after having just fought two weeks ago against Anthony Rodriguez, who he stopped in just 39 seconds via knee strikes.

“Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to the scrap,” Holland said on his IG story. “I’ve done this rehab before and I hope to run through it as I did the last time. We will be back. First thing’s first, getting back healthy.”

Holland had a chance to win two fights in just 14 days, but now appears to be on the shelf for awhile. If there is a replacement to be set for the 11-1 career Daniel Rodriguez, it has yet to be announced. The card on Saturday night will take place at the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas.
