Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Toronto hasn’t necessarily won the first quarter every time out vs. the 76ers, but they’ve largely produced on the offensive end. They’ve only been held under this number once in the last five games, bottoming out at 24 points the last time they were in Toronto (Game 4). But in Game 5 without Fred VanVleet (doubtful) — who they should be without again on Thursday — the Raptors dropped 29 in the first quarter on the 76ers.

Now, the Philadelphia 76ers were a top-10 defense in the first quarter throughout the regular season. However, that only meant they were holding opponents to 27.3 points per game, which gets us over Thursday’s first-quarter total. The Raptors, meanwhile, averaged 27 first-quarter points per game throughout the regular season. So not only are we asking the Raptors and 76ers to do what they’ve done throughout this series, but also what they’ve done all season. Seems reasonable.

Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz

Jalen Brunson over 20.5 points -110

Dallas doesn’t have Utah on the brink of elimination without Brunson’s consistent play this series. Luka Doncic is driving the bus for the Mavericks now, but they still need Brunson to keep doing what he’s doing.

The guard is coming off his second-lowest scoring performance of the series, but he still got comfortably over Thursday’s points total, like he has throughout the first round. He’s taken 18-plus shots in every game this series, and he’s taken five-plus 3-pointers in four of these five first-round games. He’s also getting a decent amount of trips to the free-throw line, logging five-plus attempts in each game this series. There are simply too many ways for Brunson to hit the over on this number.

If you want to up the payout, turn this into a SG Parlay and tack on Brunson over 2.5 assists. He’s logged at least three assists in every game this series, and adding that on elevates this pick to +165.
