The Open Championship Best Bets: PGA TOUR Golf Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook

Reid Fowler provides his top PGA TOUR golf bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for The Open Championship.

The fourth and final Major of the season is upon us. This week, The Open Championship takes place at Royal St. George’s GC in Sandwich, Kent, England. A proper links course, Royal St. George’s will test golfers’ physical and mental fortitude, with weather conditions playing a factor this week. Two Masters Tournaments, two U.S. Opens and two PGA Championships have come and gone - now it’s time for The Open Championship to take the center stage after two years lying dormant during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Midrange to longshots, more than the other three Majors, have fared well at The Open Championship. Darren Clarke, the last player to win The Open Championship here in 2011, was +20000. The average winning odds over the previous five years is +5240, with Zach Johnson being the longest at +11000 in 2015 and Jordan Spieth being the shortest at +1600 in 2017.

For a full course preview, key statistics breakdown, and additional players to consider, refer to the DraftKings Preview on DraftKings Playbook.

Here are the bets we should be considering this week on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Brooks Koepka to Win +1600

Koepka having success in a Major is the closest we’ll be to a sure thing in golf. Since 2017, he has 11 top 10 finishes at the four Majors with four wins and three runners-up finishes. Even though it has gone down a couple of points, getting him close to 2x seems like a fair number for someone with success, both historical and recent, at this event.

Paul Casey to Win +3500

The Englishman is also worth consideration with how well he’s played this season. Casey has already notched a win this year at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and has two elite finishes in the last two Majors - a seventh-place at the U.S. Open and a fourth-place at the PGA Championship. Casey also ranks 13th in Greens in Regulation gained and second in SG: Tee-to-Green over the previous 24 rounds.

Tommy Fleetwood to Win +4000

He’s mentally equipped to win an Open Championship, and it shows with his success on the European Tour and in this Major. Fleetwood’s finishes at The Open Championship have progressively gotten better with a 27th in 2017, 12th in 2018 and runner up in Portrush in 2019. His temperament is even keel, and his game is trending in the right direction, finishing T17 at the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open and T26 at the Scottish Open, which had horrible conditions.

Branden Grace to Win +7000 | Top 10 +600

As mentioned in the DraftKings Preview article, Grace should be on the shortlist of longshots to consider this week. Grace is playing great golf this season with a win at the Puerto Rico Open and elite finishes in his two most recent events (4th at Memorial, 7th at U.S. Open). He’s gained a total of 11.6 strokes with his irons over his previous two starts and ranks ninth in SG: Short game (putting + around-the-green) over the last 24 rounds.
