Harris English wins battle at Travelers Championship: Results, recaps, highlights from the PGA TOUR

Round 4 Recap — Sunday

Harris English claims 2021 Travelers Championship in lengthy playoff

English ($8,200; 117 DKFP) outlasted Kramer Hickok ($6,500; 113 DKFP) to claim his second win on the PGA TOUR this season and the fifth win of his career. English fired a five-under final round with six birdies and a bogey, but Hickok shot a three-under on Sunday to match English’s 13-under through 72 holes. He nailed a clutch putt on the 18th to force a playoff with English, and both players then went on to make pars on each of the first seven playoff holes, each making big shots and multiple clutch putts. It was the longest playoff on the PGA TOUR since 2001 and the longest ever in the history of the Travelers Championship. On the eighth playoff hole, English stuck his approach and holed his lengthy birdie putt to end a long day. — Zach Thompson

Bubba Watson fades to T19 at TPC River Highlands

Bubba Watson ($8,900; 78.5 DKFP) was in the lead when he walked off the 13th green, but he dropped six shots over the his final five holes, fading to a T19 after firing a three-over on Sunday. Watson has won the Travelers Championship twice in the past but fell apart down the stretch on Sunday. Going the other direction, Kevin Kisner ($7,100; 98.5 DKFP) shot the best round of the day with a seven-under 63 with seven birdies and no bogeys on his scorecard to surge to a tie for fifth with Brooks Koepka ($10,700; 99.5 DKFP), Brian Harman ($8,800; 94 DKFP), Brice Garnett ($6,400; 99.5 DKFP) and Hank Lebioda ($6,700; 100.5 DKFP). Abraham Ancer ($9,100; 105 DKFP) finished one shot ahead of them for a solo-fourth. — Zach Thompson

Round 3 Recap — Saturday

Bubba Watson, Kramer Hickock lead after third round of Travelers Championship

On moving day at the Travelers, both Watson ($8,900; 92.5 DKFP) and Hickok ($6,500; 90 DKFP) recorded two-under-par rounds at TPC River Highlands, moving them up to a tie at -10. Right behind them, trailing by only one stroke are Jason Day ($7,500; 81.5 DKFP), Russell Henley ($8,300; 73.5 DKFP) and Cameron Smith ($8,700; 78 DKFP), who all sit at -9 on the leaderboard. None of these players gained much attention in DFS this week, with Watson carrying the highest ownership in the $1 Million Pitch + Putt at only 10.74%. The lefty is the current favorite to win the Travelers on Sunday on DraftKings Sportsbook at +340. If Watson takes home the big check, this will be his fourth career win in Cromwell. — Alex Hunter

Dustin Johnson rockets into contention at Travelers Championship

Johnson ($11,400; 66.5 DKFP) had the low round of the day on Saturday at the Travelers Championship, moving up 49 spots into a tie for ninth. The World No. 2 carded a five-under 65 at TPC River Highlands, moving to -7 for the tournament, just three shots off the lead. He made par on each of the first six holes before rattling off four birdies in the next five holes as he made the turn. He’d bogey 12, birdie 13 and end his day with a birdie on 18. Cameron Smith ($8,700; 78 DKFP) and Abraham Ancer ($9,100; 66.5 DKFP) were one off the low round with a four-under 66. Smith sits in a tie for third, just a shot back, while Ancer is four back at -6. They’re chasing Kramer Hickock ($6,500; 90 DKFP) and Bubba Watson ($8,900; 92.5 DKFP) at -10. — Kenny Ducey

Round 2 Recap — Friday

Jason Day leads after second round of Travelers Championship

Day ($7,500) entered the Travelers Championship in poor recent form, posting a T44 and three missed cuts in his past four starts. That resulted in average ownership of just 7.75% for this week’s tournament, but Day will head into the weekend with a one-shot lead. He got off to an uninspiring start, posting a one-under-par 69 on Thursday, but he followed that up with an eight-under-par 62 on Friday. That was the best score on the course. Kramer Hickok ($6,500) and Bubba Watson ($8,900) are tied for second at eight-under-par for the tournament, while a group of seven golfers are tied for fourth at seven-under-par. Day and Watson are now the co-favorites to win the tournament at +700 on DraftKings Sportsbook. — Matt LaMarca

Tony Finau among big names to miss the cut at Travelers Championship

After carding a six-over 76 on Thursday, Finau ($9,200) went three-under on Friday, but it wasn’t enough, keeping him five shots out of the two-under-par cutline at the Travelers. Finau was owned by 14.18% of the field in DraftKings’ $1 Million Pitch + Putt tournament this week. Some other popular DFS plays that will be sent home early from TPC River Highlands are Rickie Fowler ($7,300) and Keegan Bradley ($7,900), who were the fifth and sixth highest owned golfers in the Pitch + Putt. Another notable name that failed to stay inside the cutline this week was Matthew Wolff ($9,300). Coming off the encouraging T15 at the U.S. Open last weekend, the 22-year-old finished at five over at the Travelers, and he is now 0-for-3 in made cuts at this event. — Alex Hunter

Round 1 Recap — Thursday

Kramer Hickok, Satoshi Kodaira lead Travelers Championship after Round 1

After Round 1 of the Travelers Championship, 14 golfers are in the Top 10. Only one, Bubba Watson ($8,900; 28.5 DKFP), is priced over $8K. Nine of the golfers are priced in the $6K range, which includes the two current leaders. Hickok ($6,500; 58 DKFP) was masterful on Thursday as he only had one bogey and eight birdies, with three streaks of two. Kodaira ($6,500; 63.5 DKFP) also only had one bogey, but he had six birdies and one eagle. DraftKings Sportsbook has Hickok at +2500 to win it all while Kodaira is at +1600. Watson is the current favorite at +1200. — Stan Son

Chalky golfers off to slow starts at Travelers Championship

The two most popular golfers in the $1M Pitch + Putt have their work cut out for them at this week’s Travelers Championships. Paul Casey ($9,900; 17 DKFP) commanded a whopping 28.04% ownership but sits eight shots off the lead at +1 after starting with four straight birdies to close the front nine and gave those all back right away on the back nine with four consecutive bogeys. He’d add one for good measure on 18. Abraham Ancer ($9,100; 10 DKFP) was the second-most owned player and didn’t fare much better. He traded four bogeys for two birdies and sits at +2, nine shots off the leader, Kramer Hickok ($6,500; 58 DKFP), at -7. On the bright side for the chalk, Harris English ($8,200; 24 DKFP) is tied for 15th. — Kenny Ducey
