Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for May 5

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Wednesday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

It’s another wild weather Wednesday on the DraftKings Dream Stream with six games on tap, all of which will be impacted by adverse weather conditions. The three-game featured classic slate kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET, when the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers roll into D.C. to take on the Washington Football Team in a game that will take place in a rainstorm. At 8:00 p.m. ET, the New Orleans Saints will have to play outdoors in the snow as they take on the New York Jets in primetime, and we close out the slate with another snow game for the Arizona Cardinals as they visit the Chicago Bears. There are some very interesting matchups to analyze, so check out my favorite fantasy football plays from the six teams in action this Wednesday.

You can get all the gameplay details on the Madden Streams Information Page and dive into the full depth chart for each team.

Quarterback

Stud

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals at Chicago Bears, $7,400 — QBs seem to run a little more in the weather and can be even harder for defenders to deal with due to snowy field conditions. Kyler’s elusiveness has helped him average 69.0 rushing yards to go with his 179.3 passing yards per sim, and he has also thrown 81 touchdowns while running for 29 more scores. He led the Cardinals to a pair of narrow wins earlier in these sims against the Bears, posting 26.3 and 30.58 DKFP and throwing a total of six touchdowns. If you can afford him, he’s worth paying up for since he brings the most upside of all the QBs in play.

Other Option — Mitchell Trubisky ($6,900)

Value

Sam Darnold, New York Jets vs. New Orleans Saints, $5,600 — Darnold has tossed 93 touchdowns in his 71 sims in Madden 21, while averaging 215.5 passing yards per sim. He has faced the Saints twice in that span and threw three touchdowns in each matchup, totaling 24.8 and 33.12 DKFP. He has that kind of upside again in this rematch, but he comes with more risk than Kyler since he is touchdown-dependent due to less running production.

Running Back

Stud

J.D. McKissic, Washington Football Team vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $7,300 — McKissic is always a nice Madden option due to his high volume of work as a receiver out of the backfield. He has at least seven catches in three of his past four games and has posted over 13 DKFP in seven straight. He had a pair of receiving touchdowns and 27.1 DKFP in his first matchup with the Bucs, and he should remain the focus of the Washington offense in this rematch.

Other Options — Alvin Kamara ($7,800), Le’Veon Bell ($6,400)

Value

Tarik Cohen, Chicago Bears vs. Arizona Cardinals, $4,700 — Cohen is locked in a timeshare with David Montgomery ($3,800) but gets enough work as a third-down back to remain a good value play. He also brings a high ceiling due to his big-play potential. He’s averaging 3.0 catches for 23.5 receiving yards to go this his 23.5 rushing yards per sim and has scored 17 touchdowns in 71 sims.

Other Options — LeSean McCoy ($4,900), Leonard Fournette ($4,400)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington Football Team, $6,500 — For Brady’s Bucs, picking the right WR can be tricky, but rain games favor slot WRs in general, setting up Godwin for potential success in this game. He has an extremely high ceiling and has hit for 11.0 DKFP or more in eight of his past 10 sims while averaging 16.5 DKFP per sim over that stretch. He also has a good matchup against Washington, who he beat for four catches and 62 yards in their first matchup.

Other Option — Michael Thomas ($7,600)

Value

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals at Chicago Bears, $4,600 — Fitz continues to be a reliable possession option in the Cardinals’ passing game and continues to produce PPR points even though he doesn’t offer much big-play potential. Fitzgerald is averaging 3.8 catches for 34.4 yards per sim and has double-digit DKFP in six of his past eight contests.

Chris Hogan, New York Jets vs. New Orleans Saints, $3,800 — The current PLL pro continues to be a solid fantasy value in these Madden sims, averaging 3.0 catches for 42.5 yards per contest. He has multiple catches in 84% of his sims and brings a nice ceiling if he finds the end zone or approaches 100 yards in this rematch with the Saints.

Other Options — Allen Robinson II ($5,600), Emmanuel Sanders ($5,500), Tre’Quan Smith ($4,000), Scotty Miller ($3,300)

Tight End

Stud

Jared Cook, New Orleans Saints at New York Jets, $5,200 — Trusting the Saints in the snow can be dangerous, but Cook is the most consistent exception since he usually still gets plenty of work over the middle. He’s averaged 5.1 catches for 53.2 yards per sim overall and had eight catches for 107 yards and 21.7 DKFP in his most recent contest against the Jets. He has double-digit DKFP in six of his past seven and should be able to keep rolling in this matchup.

Other Option — Chris Herndon ($4,500)

Value

Jeremy Sprinkle, Washington Football Team vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $4,100 — Sprinkle is averaging over 10 DKFP per sim, so it’s a little surprising that he’s the most affordable starting TE on this slate. He has produced 4.0 catches for 44.7 yards per sim and had a monster 10-catch game against the Bucs in their previous meeting, finishing with 26.5 DKFP. While he probably won’t reach that ceiling again, he has a ton of upside at barely over $4K, especially in a rain game, which usually increases TE involvement.

DST

Stud

Buccaneers DST at Washington Football Team, $3,100 — Going up against Dwayne Haskins ($5,200) should be a good spot for the Bucs, who have a good pass rush in Madden. In their 76 sims, they have 187 sacks and have posted multiple sacks in five straight sims.

Value

Jets DST vs. New Orleans Saints, $2,700 — The Jets’ defense averages the second-most DKFP on the slate but has the lowest salary. Part of their price point is due to matchup, but Drew Brees ($7,000) has struggled in weather games. In their 71 sims, the Jets have 136 sacks, 41 takeaways and seven defensive touchdowns. They’re a solid, low-risk play with the help of the snow in the virtual Big Apple.
