Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for May 20

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Thursday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

We’ve got another full Thursday night of simulated football lined up on the DraftKings Dream Stream with the featured three-game classic slate kicking off at 6:00 p.m. ET. The first matchup features the Minnesota Vikings hosting the New York Giants in a matchup of two of the top workhorse RBs in Madden 21. At 8:00 p.m. ET in primetime, the Los Angeles Rams will visit the Chicago Bears, and we close out the night with a matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders on Madden After Dark.

Check out all the gameplay details on the Madden Streams Information Page and dive into the full depth chart for each team. My favorite fantasy plays for today’s slate are listed below.

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams, $7,400 — There aren’t any elite options at QB, but Trubisky is the closest thing available and should be able to overcome this difficult matchup and still be the top passer in play. Trubisky has faced the Rams four times in Madden 21 and averaged 19.1 DKFP, slightly below his overall average of 20.4 DKFP. He isn’t quite as productive as he was in the Madden 20 sims, but he still has upside based on his rushing potential and is averaging 64.6 rushing yards per sim. No other QB on this slate is averaging more than 15 rushing yards per sim.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings, $5,900 — Of all the less expensive QBs, Jones offers the most upside and best average. He has thrown 103 touchdowns in 75 sims and averaged 227.2 passing yards per contest. He has topped 200 passing yards in 12 of his past 13 games and can potentially go for a big number if he throws touchdowns to go with his yardage. He had 208 yards, two scores and 19.92 DKFP in his recent meeting with Minnesota.

Other Option — Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,000), Derek Carr ($5,800)

Running Back

Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants, $8,300 — Both Cook and Raheem Mostert ($7,600) are in must-play matchups on this slate. Cook has dominated everyone with 81 touchdowns in 75 sims and has specifically thrived against the Giants with 23.9, 51, and 38.2 DKFP in their three meetings. That 51-DKFP performance included 138 rushing yards, three touchdowns and eight catches for 82 more yards. Cook is rarely a bust since he gets so much work as a pass-catcher and has produced 14 DKFP or more in 13 of his past 14 sims. He’s a little more reliable and in a little better matchup than Mostert, but building around the high-priced pair of RBs is an attractive lineup construction to consider.

Other Option — Raheem Mostert ($7,600)

Jalen Richard, Las Vegas Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers, $4,100 — Richard is a solid way to spend much less at RB and still get good upside since he gets so much work as the Raiders’ third-down back. Richard is averaging 3.1 catches per sim and had 6.1 DKFP in his first meeting with the 49ers. At barely over $4K, he’s actually a pretty safe play despite his timeshare and comes with a good ceiling if he gets into the end zone.

Other Option — Darrell Henderson Jr. ($5,200), Tarik Cohen ($4,800)

Wide Receiver

Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears, $6,300 — Even though he isn’t the WR1 on his own team, Woods has been one of the best WRs for fantasy in Madden 21, outproducing Cooper Kupp ($5,400), who is ahead of him on the depth chart. Woods has been red-hot lately with over 70 yards and over 15 DKFP in six straight games. He also had big games against the Bears in their two most recent sims, producing 26.5 and 31.8 DKFP in those matchups.

Other Option — Henry Ruggs III ($6,100), Allen Robinson II ($5,700)

Kendrick Bourne, San Francisco 49ers at Las Vegas Raiders, $4,400 — Bourne had only two catches in his first meeting with the Raiders but both were touchdowns on his way to 15.5 DKFP. He has multiple catches in four straight sims and in seven of his past eight. Overall, he has averaged 3.7 catches for 52.0 yards per sim and scored a total of 20 touchdowns.

Ted Ginn Jr., Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams, $3,400 — Ginn still brings some big-play potential to his role as the Bears’ WR2. Ginn has multiple catches in each of his four previous matchups with the Rams, highlighted by 12.7 DKFP and a touchdown in their most recent meeting. He has 27 total touchdowns in Madden 21 and has averaged 2.6 catches for 36.8 yards per sim.

Other Options — Josh Reynolds ($5,200), Dante Pettis ($4,000), Hunter Renfrow ($3,700)

Tight End

Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers, $5,500 — Since George Kittle ($5,900) can sometimes disappear when Mostert has a big game, I actually think Waller is a safer play in the late game. Waller has averaged 4.5 catches for 54.5 yards per sim and scored 24 touchdowns. Those numbers are just below Kittle’s, but I think Waller’s matchup makes him the safer play.

Other Option — George Kittle ($5,900)

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears, $4,600 — Higbee has multiple catches in 72 of 76 (95%) of the Rams’ sims in Madden 21 and has averaged 4.6 catches for 44.8 yards per contest while scoring 16 touchdowns. He’s a great way to get top-tier production from his mid-tier salary on this slate and is worth a look at your flex spot even if you go with Waller or Kittle in your TE spot.

Other Options — Jimmy Graham ($4,400)

Rams DST at Chicago Bears, $2,900 — The Rams have 99-overall player Aaron Donald up front and Jalen Ramsey in their secondary, so it’s a little surprising that they have only forced 38 turnovers in 76 sims. They do have 126 sacks, though, and should be able to get pressure on Trubisky, who has had fumbling issues. The Rams’ DST averaged 6.8 DKFP in their four earlier meetings with the Bears.

49ers DST at Las Vegas Raiders, $2,800 — The 49ers have had success by running the ball and relying on their defense, averaging a slate-high 4.6 DKFP per sim. In their first game against Vegas, the 49ers had 9.0 DKFP and have three 7.0-DKFP performances in their six most recent sims.
