NBA Best Bets: Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for April 29

The NBA is the Wild West right now with COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. We sit at 67-58-2 on article plays this season. Let’s get some wins on Thursday.

Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Dallas Mavericks at Detroit Pistons

Kristaps Porzingis OVER 22.5 Points (-135)

Editor’s Note: Mavericks PG/SF Luka Doncic (elbow) has been ruled out for tonight’s game vs. the Pistons.

Luka Doncic is listed as doubtful for this one, and I expect this prop to be on the move, or even pulled when Luka is presumably ruled out. Not much analysis to this one, other than capitalizing on the go-to-scorer role transitioning to Porzingis. KP has averaged 25.0 points per game in two contests without Luka this season, and 26.8 points in 12 career games without Doncic since being traded to Dallas. The Pistons have one of the softest front courts in the NBA, which should help this one along.

Milwaukee Bucks at Houston Rockets

MIL 1H -8 (-110)

This one has massive blowout potential, but I’ll back the Bucks putting this one away by double-digits in the first half. Milwaukee is a solid 34-26-1 1H ATS, and has covered the first half in seven of its last 10. Houston seems to have given up on the season, shutting some players down, and going for the best possible draft pick. The Rockets are an NBA-worst 10-21 1H ATS at home this season, covering just two of their last eight first halves overall, and only four of their last 20 at home. A healthy Bucks squad should roll.

Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves

GSW -4.5 (-105)

The Warriors are coming off arguably their worst loss of the season, getting mopped at home by the Mavericks. The Timberwolves showed us something in back-to-back wins over the Jazz, but I feel that’s just getting us a better number here. Golden State has hammered Minnesota in the two previous meetings — by 22 and 12 points, respectively — and is still 7-3 over the last 10 games. Karl-Anthony Towns will be a tough matchup for the Dubs, but playing for their lives when it comes to the play-in round, this team needs a bounce-back performance. They have much more desperation than the Jazz, who despite the losses being embarrassing, didn’t need those games. Look for the Warriors to keep their foot on the gas in this one.
