Tuesday might only bring six games in the NBA, but a few contests could be marred by teams resting players, one of which is the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set on the road against the Golden State Warriors. This game is also the featured Showdown contest on DraftKings, so let’s discuss how things might play out for both teams.
UPDATE: Mavericks PF/C Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) and SG/SF Josh Richardson (hamstring) have been ruled out for tonight's game vs. the Warriors.

PG/SF Luka Doncic (elbow), SF/PF Dorian Finney-Smith (leg), PF/C Maxi Kleber (back) and SG JJ Redick (heel) will be available to play.

SHOWDOWN STRATEGY
Captain’s Pick
Luka Doncic ($19,200 CP): If Doncic doesn’t sit out for rest, he’s clearly one of the top picks for the Captain’s spot. He was only 4-for-12 from behind the arc during a disappointing loss to the Kings on Monday, but he still scored 44.8 DKFP. With his ability to contribute in multiple areas, he’s been able to average a whopping 55.1 DKFP per game for the season. The last time he took the floor against the Warriors, he torched them for 42 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists. While that line will be difficult for him to duplicate, he still has an incredibly high floor.
Stephen Curry ($18,300 CP): If you don’t go with Doncic here, then Curry should be the only other player to consider for the Captain’s spot, unless you’re trying to differentiate your lineup in tournament play. He’s trying to carry the Warriors into a playoff spot, averaging 37.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 6.5 three-pointers over his last 14 games. When he last faced the Mavericks, he scored 57 points while hitting 11 three-pointers. With so few quality scoring options around him, look for Curry to continue to jack up shots at will, especially from behind the arc.

UTIL Plays
Draymond Green ($9,000): The bad news is that Green has scored a total of 10 points across the Warriors’ last two games. The good news is that he totaled 26 rebounds and 32 assists, leaving him with at least 44.0 DKFP in both contests. He likely will continue to provide limited scoring contributions given that he’s only averaged 6.6 points per game, but his ability to contribute in other areas still makes him an appealing option.
Kelly Oubre Jr. ($7,800): The Warriors have brought Oubre off the bench since he returned from injury. He seems to be settling into the role nicely, averaging 22.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks across the last three games. While he is coming off the bench, he played at least 31 minutes in all three games, which is a trend that will likely continue moving forward.
Juan Toscano-Anderson ($4,200): James Wiseman (knee) and Eric Paschall (hip) have been sidelined for the Warriors, which has opened up more minutes for Toscano-Anderson. He’s responded by scoring at least 21.5 DKFP in three of the last four games. He’s generally been productive when given the opportunity, averaging 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 three-pointers across 20 games in which he has logged at least 20 minutes.
Fades
Andrew Wiggins ($8,400): Wiggins has taken a step backward with Oubre playing well the last three games, averaging 15.3 points on 36.7 percent shooting from the field during that stretch. He generally doesn’t provide much outside of the scoring column, averaging only 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the season. If you want to roll with either Green or Oubre, while having Curry or Doncic in the Captain’s spot, it’s difficult to also squeeze Wiggins into your budget.
The Outcome
A lot of this outcome depends on if the Mavericks decide to rest players. Also, will Kristaps Porzingis ($10,200) be able to return from his ankle injury? Expect at least a key player or two on the Mavericks to get the night off, setting up the Warriors to continue to excel at home. They are 19-10 there this season, compared to just 12-20 on the road.
Final Score: Warriors 116, Mavericks 111
