Offense Notes

Paying Up for Los Angeles

The two best spots on Monday’s slate are coming from LA, with the Dodgers and Angels looking like the best offenses to spend salary on. The top half of both lineups are expensive, with Mike Trout ($6,000), Mookie Betts ($5,900), Corey Seager ($5,700) and Justin Turner ($5,500) all being seemingly hard to afford, but the low pricing on the back ends of these lineups is going to make them much easier to stack. Shohei Ohtani ($4,600) is probably underpriced, and Justin Upton ($3,700) and AJ Pollock ($3,100) are two of the best values on the slate. The thing that’s going to be tough to decide on with these two teams is how to handle the ownership, as the strong matchups against the Mariners and Rangers are fairly obvious and there’s almost no question that these are going to be the two highest owned teams on the slate. In large field GPPs, it probably makes sense to use a few hitters from these two teams but to also look elsewhere for full stacks.

Leverage with the Rangers

The Rangers draw a matchup against the Angels and Dylan Bundy ($7,700), who’s likely to contend for the highest owned pitcher of Monday night’s slate. The chalk on Bundy is probably warranted, as the Rangers are an extremely strikeout-prone offense and Bundy himself is an above average strikeout pitcher, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a significant downside here too. Bundy can be susceptible to home runs, and while the Rangers are among the league leaders in strikeouts, they also have some power in their lineup. This offense certainly isn’t good overall, and the main reason this could be an appealing stack is the combination of high ownership on Bundy and low ownership on the Rangers offense.
