NCAA college basketball conference tournaments are upon us! While we’ve had some smaller conference tournaments going on since last week, the major conference tournaments will be going on this week, and wrapping up over the weekend ahead of Selection Sunday.
If you’ve been a CBB Best Bets reader this season, hopefully you hold the Alabama +465 ticket in the SEC that we bet about six weeks ago, with the Tide now down to a +220 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Let’s dive into a few potential futures we can ride this week in conference tournaments on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Big 10 Conference Winner: Illinois (+320)
After slipping up against Michigan State a couple of weeks ago, the Illini had some work to do to be in the conversation for a No. 1 seed. What a week they bounced back with, collecting road wins over Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State. Illinois is now -250 to land a No. 1 seed, and that seems like a bargain. Illinois is on Iowa’s side of the bracket, and wouldn’t have to see Michigan until a potential Big 10 Final. I get that this conference is stacked, but getting +320 on a team this hot feels like terrific value. If they make a run to the championship game (which takes just two wins) and you lose faith, you’ll easily be able to hedge at that stage.

Big East Conference Winner: UConn (+210)
UConn was +230 earlier on Monday, but money came in making them the favorite. Creighton is dealing with some internal issues with its head coach, while Villanova’s had an extremely unfortunate week when it comes to injuries. Meanwhile, the Huskies have been red-hot with James Bouknight back in action. UConn enters conference championship week winners of four straight, and six of their last seven, and their only loss was on the road to ‘Nova at full strength. As the 3-seed, we know UConn will start with either Providence or DePaul, both of which I like the Huskies a lot against. This seems to be the time of year this program thrives.
ACC Conference Winner: Georgia Tech (+1000)
So this one’s a hot bet you might have seen going around, and we already missed the +2000 price earlier in the day on Monday. That said, the ACC is so wide open. The teams at the top are extremely beatable, and Georgia Tech, once on the wrong side of the bubble, has come up with wins against many of the top teams to earn their way in. But why leave it up to chance? This squad has the skill on the perimeter and size in the paint to contend. The 4-seed gets a double-bye in the ACC, so it’ll just take two wins to get to the championship, where you can easily hedge. The toughest possible path would be wins over Clemson and Virginia, and we’ve seen far crazier things in March. There’s a reason this is +1000, so take it easy on this play. But there’s plenty of upside for the Yellow Jackets.
