Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for Hawks vs. Clippers Showdown on March 22

Stan Son gives his top NBA lineup advice for Monday’s fantasy basketball Showdown contest on DraftKings between the Hawks and Clippers, which starts at 10:00 p.m. ET.

The Hawks are soaring high, looking down upon the league searching for prey. They are fourth in the Eastern Conference, having won eight of their last 10 games to put them at 22-20 for the season. The Clippers are fourth in the Western Conference with a 27-16 record. Over the last 10 games, though, Los Angeles has won only four. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Clippers favored by 6.5 points with the total at 225.5.

Let’s break down everything to play a few Showdown lineups.

SHOWDOWN STRATEGY

Captain’s Picks

Kawhi Leonard ($15,000 CP) — Leonard averages 1.32 DKFP per minute and 34.5 minutes per game. He garners a usage rate of 29.5% and contributes in every statistical category. He’s scored at least 30 DKFP in every game this season and over 50 in 15, with a high of 62. These teams played on Jan. 26 but Leonard did not play in that one.

John Collins ($12,900 CP) — Collins is coming off a 60.5-DKFP explosion vs. the Lakers. That was a season-high by a good margin, so it would be foolish to think a repeat is in the works. With that said, there are a ton of things to like with Collins. Over the last four games, he’s played 31, 33, 30 and 32 minutes. That’s huge because he was languishing in the 26-28 minute range for much of the season. He even played just 14 minutes in a game last month. Collins faced the Clippers on Jan. 26 and went for 41.25 DKFP in 35 minutes.

FLEX Plays

Bogdan Bogdanovic ($4,000) — Bogdanovic has only played 17 games this season and has averaged 0.81 DKFP per minute. Ever since he played 16 minutes in his return from a 25-game absence, the playing time has slowly ramped up. Over the last two games, he’s played 29 and 30 minutes, producing 19 and 37.5 DKFP, respectively. When he was healthy with the Kings last season, Bogdanovic was averaging 0.94 DKFP per minute.

Ivica Zubac ($6,000) — Serge Ibaka has missed three games and is out for this one. During his absence, Zubac has played 35, 35 and 25 minutes, contributing 32.75, 32.75, and 21.75 DKFP, respectively. The last game was a blowout, so he wasn’t needed much. As long as the game stays close, 30-plus minutes should be in the offering. On the season, Zubac is averaging 1.01 DKFP per minute.

Marcus Morris Sr. ($5,800) — Since entering the starting lineup three games ago, Morris has played 31, 36 and 21 minutes — again, the Clippers’ last game was a blowout. Over that span, he put up 29.5, 27.25, and 21 DKFP, respectively. Morris spreads the floor out for the two Clipper stars, so he always plenty of good looks. He’s attempted 11, 14, and nine shots over the last three games, respectively. More of the same should be expected in this one.

Fades

Trae Young ($9,600) - Young has been dealing with a bruised quad lately. He’s gone for 35.1, 41.7, 35.6 and 23.4 DKFP over the last four games. When these teams met back in January, Young went for 56.25 DKFP, and the Clippers do boost the fantasy points per minute to point guards by 13.99% above league average. Is it just a cold streak or a result of the injury? Probably both, but it’s difficult for me to have complete trust in a player who isn’t close to 100%.

THE OUTCOME

The Hawks have been playing good ball and are .500 on the road while the Clippers have been scuffling. I still think the Clippers pull it out, but the score will be much closer than the current spread.

Final Score: Clippers 113, Hawk 110
