Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for March 15

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Monday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

As the offseason moves start to ramp up for the NFL with free agency on the horizon, you can still enjoy some on-field action from six Madden sims every day on the DraftKings Dream Stream. This Monday features some nice single-game and classic contests throughout the afternoon and evening, including the three-game featured classic slate which kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET when the Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49ers in a big NFC West clash. At 8:00 p.m. ET in primetime, the focus shifts to the Midwest, where the Cleveland Browns will be hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars, and we close out the day with a Madden After Dark meeting between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots at virtual Gillette Stadium.

As in all of these Madden 21 sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, $7,600 — Wilson has been one of the best QBs in these sims although he has had some ups-and-downs lately. He usually provides plenty of rushing production, as he did in his most recent sim when he threw for 151 yards, ran for 121 yards and finished with 25.14 DKFP in a win over the Texans. Wilson has over 20 DKFP in three of his past four games and is averaging a robust 21.9 DKFP per contest, which is over 3.5 DKFP more per game than any other QB available. In his three previous matchups with the 49ers, Russ has put up 12.0, 21.1 and 25.12 DKFP, so it isn’t a matchup you have to shy away from. He isn’t quite as reliable as Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson, but he has a higher ceiling and has been more consistent than the other QBs in play, so pay up for him at just over $7.5K if you can.

Other Option — Cam Newton ($6,300)

Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland Browns, $5,800 — The Browns and Jaguars have been frequent opponents in these sims and will be meeting for the fifth time in Madden 21. Minshew has thrown for over 190 yards and produced over 11 DKFP in each meeting, with a high point of 21.78 DKFP against Cleveland, when he added three touchdown passes in one of their matchups. Overall, he has been boom-or-bust in these contests but has flashed a legitimate ceiling when throwing touchdowns. He makes a better play than the other cheap QBs, who have tough matchups against the strong secondaries of the Patriots and Seahawks. While he is no lock, Minshew could end up being the key to having the salary you need for other stars since he does come with substantial salary savings.

Other Option — Drew Lock ($5,600)

Running Back

Raheem Mostert, San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, $8,100 — Speaking of high ceilings, Mostert went off for a massive 58.2 DKFP three sims ago against the Bills, piling up 237 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He has a total of 53 scores in his 54 sims and has produced 82.8 rushing yards and 25.2 receiving yards per sim as the focus of the 49ers’ offense. Mostert has over 15 DKFP in six straight sims and beat the Seahawks for 11.0 and 22.6 DKFP in his first two matchups against them before being held to 9.6 DKFP in their most recent meeting. He is one of just two full-time backs on the six teams playing on this slate, so take advantage of his big workload and hope he keeps rolling in this matchup with Seattle.

Other Options — Chris Thompson ($7,300)

Carlos Hyde, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, $4,300 — Hyde wasn’t in his current role as the Seahawks’ power back for these teams’ first meeting in Madden 21, but he has posted 15.7 and 9.4 DKFP in their two most recent contests. Hyde had a touchdown in each of those games and has scored a total of 11 times in his 49 Madden 21 games. He had over 8.0 DKFP in four straight sims before being held to 3.3 DKFP in his most recent outing. He should bounce back, though, since this game script will likely be a gritty, divisional matchup and trend toward the power formations which feature the ex-49er against his old team.

Other Option — Kareem Hunt ($4,800), James White ($4,600)

Wide Receiver

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, $6,000 — I don’t highlight Metcalf very often in this space since he tends to be boom-or-bust due to Wilson’s tendency to take off and run rather than focus on getting Metcalf the ball. However, all the top WRs on this slate have been inconsistent contributors, and I think Metcalf has the best chance to go off. He had 34.0 DKFP in his first meeting with the 49ers in Madden 21, hauling in two touchdowns and finishing with exactly 100 yards. In their two rematches, he has posted 6.0 and 13.3 DKFP but has still been fairly involved. X-factor Superstar CB Richard Sherman has a high rating but doesn’t seem to shadow Metcalf in these matchups, so DK should still be able to get into space to make big plays. He has scored 19 touchdowns in his 55 Madden sims, including seven in his past 11 sims. There is still the chance of a bust game if Wilson does most of the work himself, but if he looks to get the ball to Metcalf, the WR should be poised for a big performance.

Other Options — Odell Beckham Jr. ($6,600), Julian Edelman ($5,200)

Dede Westbrook, Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland Browns, $5,000 — Westbrook has had a lot of success working out of the slot for the Jaguars in these sims, averaging 3.8 catches for 49.8 yards and 11.1 DKFP per sim. He hasn’t really had a monster game against the Browns but has put up at least 11 DKFP in five of his six most recent sims. He also flashed a very high ceiling with 46.0 DKFP against the Giants a few sims ago and brings a lot of upside for a player available at only $5K. While he doesn’t usually get near that production, he does have big-play ability in this favorable matchup.

Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, $4,400 — The slot receiver on the other side of the primetime matchup has a lot to offer as well, and Landry has been very busy in his earlier contests against Jacksonville. Landry has at least four catches in each meeting and has produced over 13 DKFP in each of their three most recent contests. Landry can be boom-or-bust but has been getting steady PPR work lately. This matchup also seems to lead to Baker Mayfield ($6,800) looking his way early and often.

Other Options — Deebo Samuel ($4,900), N’Keal Harry ($4,800), Rashard Higgins ($3,800), Damiere Byrd ($3,500)

Tight End

Devin Asiasi, New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos, $5,500 — Unlike the other games on this slate, this will be a brand new Madden 21 matchup since the Patriots and Broncos haven’t gone head-to-head since the move from Madden 2020. Asiasi has been a solid contributor for the Patriots since that move, averaging 4.1 catches for 43.7 yards per sim since stepping in for Madden 2020 legend Ben Watson. Asiasi has at least three catches in four straight sims and 10 of his past 11, and he has been on a touchdown binge, scoring 14 times over his past 12 sims.

Other Options — George Kittle ($6,300), Austin Hooper ($4,900)

Noah Fant, Denver Broncos at New England Patriots, $3,600 — Fant hasn’t been nearly as productive as Asiasi overall, but he has a very high upside as one of the fastest tight ends in Madden. He also gets a favorable matchup since the Patriots’ outstanding secondary often forces opponents to rely heavily on TE production. Fant has been boom-or-bust, going off for over 20 DKFP in three of his past 27 sims but also being held under 10 DKFP in 16 of his past 18 contests. He’s a high-risk, high-reward play in this matchup but does come with a high ceiling and likely low ownership.

Other Options — Tyler Eifert ($4,700), Greg Olsen ($4,300)

Seahawks DST vs. San Francisco 49ers, $3,200 — The top two DSTs in Madden are both on Monday night’s slate in the Seahawks and the Patriots, but based on the matchup and lack of weather involved, I’m leaning slightly toward Seattle as the stronger play. While the Patriots have more touchdowns and takeaways, they trail far behind the Seahawks in sacks (129 to 91) which has pushed Seattle to outpace New England in DKFP per game (7.3 to 6.0). The Seahawks have multiple sacks in four straight sims and produced 7.0 DKFP in two of their three previous meetings with the 49ers. Both defenses are loaded with big-play potential, but I’m going with the Seahawks due to their more effective pass rush.

Other Option — Patriots ($3,100)

Jaguars DST at Cleveland Browns, $2,700 — This doesn’t seem like a great day to go with a cheap DST with those two elite options on the board, but if you do go bargain hunting, the Jaguars are the best cheap play. The Browns have been inconsistent on offense and Jacksonville has been able to pile up 94 sacks in 55 sims. They only have 30 takeaways and two defensive touchdowns but can still work as a punt play, averaging 3.0 DKFP in their four previous contests with Cleveland.
