Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for February 28

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Sunday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Sunday brings another busy month to a close on the DraftKings Dream Stream with six more Madden sims lined up throughout the final day of February. The featured three-game classic slate kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET with a matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Atlanta Falcons. At 8:00 p.m. ET, the Green Bay Packers welcome the Indianapolis Colts to virtual Lambeau Field, and on Madden After Dark at 10:00 p.m. ET, the Cincinnati Bengals roll into Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys.

As in all these Madden 21 sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons, $6,800 — The Bills and Falcons split a pair of sims earlier in Madden 21 with each team claiming a win on the road. Allen had 222 passing yards with two touchdowns and 18.68 DKFP in their most recent meeting after posting 19.5 DKFP in their first matchup. Allen brings good rushing potential and has added 18 touchdowns on the ground to his 57 passing scores in 49 games. He has shown a very high ceiling with 32.74 DKFP just two sims ago against the Jets and has also been pretty consistent with over 17 DKFP in 14 of his past 17 contests. He is the lowest risk option at the top of the salary chart at QB and comes with a very high ceiling as well.

Other Option — Dak Prescott ($6,300)

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys, $6,000 — Burrow doesn’t run as often as Allen but does bring a little rushing potential, especially near the goal line. This will be his first matchup with the Cowboys, but he comes in playing well with over 250 passing yards in four straight games and over 17 DKFP in five straight and eight of his past nine sims. He has a similarly high ceiling to Allen, which he showed with 37.42 DKFP against the Steelers a few sims ago, but he doesn’t hit that ceiling quite as often since his rushing yards aren’t typically as high as Allen’s. He does make a lot of sense if you’re tight on salary, though, especially facing a very beatable Dallas defense.

Other Option — Matt Ryan ($5,800)

Running Back

Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals, $7,000 — The Bengals' run defense has given up many monster games in these sims, and Zeke should be in a spot to feast in the late game. Elliott has scored 47 touchdowns in his 50 sims and is usually heavily involved as both rusher and receiver. He is averaging 82.7 rushing yards and 19.7 receiving yards on 2.82 catches per sim. He has scored seven touchdowns in his past four games, highlighted by a three-touchdown performance against the Lions that resulted in 46.2 DKFP. That was the fifth time that Zeke has had three touchdowns in a sim, so the potential or a huge game is definitely there for him in this favorable matchup.

Other Options — Todd Gurley II ($7,200), Aaron Jones ($7,100)

Giovani Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys, $5,000 — The elite options at RB on this slate are excellent, so stacking up a pair of studs here would be my preferred roster construction. However, if you have to go cheaper, Bernard is a very solid pivot play as well, averaging 10.4 DKFP per sim as the Bengals’ third-down RB. Bernard averages a robust 4.3 catches per sim for 31.0 receiving yards and has also scored a total of 11 touchdowns in his 48 sims. His timeshare with Joe Mixon ($5,500) makes him a little risky, but his PPR production usually saves him from being a total letdown even in games where he doesn’t go off.

Other Option — Devin Singletary ($5,900)

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills, $6,300 — The main difference between Atlanta’s win over Buffalo and its loss in the rematch was the production of Jones. In the first game, Jones beat a good Bills secondary for five catches, 158 yards, two touchdowns and 35.8 DKFP. In the rematch, he only managed three catches for 35 yards and 6.5 DKFP. The matchup is a tough one, but it is one that he has shown he can overcome and still produce a big game. He may be able to get lined up on the opposite side of the field from Superstar X-factor CB Tre’Davious White, which would put him in a matchup where he has a distinct advantage. White doesn’t usually shadow in these sims which is why WR1 options have had good games at times against the Bills. Based on his consistency and upside, Jones makes the most sense if you’re paying up for a top WR.

Other Options — Davante Adams ($6,600), Amari Cooper ($6,000)

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts, $4,800 — The Packers typically spread the ball around to their top three WRs, making MVS a play with a lot of upside due to his 93 speed rating. He has at least 16 DFKP in four straight games, finding the end zone five times over that stretch. He also scored against the Colts in their earlier meeting and has totaled 18 touchdowns in 50 sims while averaging 3.3 catches for 43.4 yards per contest. The Colts lack depth at CB, so he should get a winnable matchup out of the slot.

Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers, $4,100 — On the other side of the primetime matchup, Campbell also offers a lot of speed out of the slot and has a very high ceiling. His speed rating is 94 giving him a slight edge over MVS, but the Packers wide out’s 81 awareness rating makes him a better play overall than Campbell, whose awareness rating is only 72. If he does get the ball in space, though, he can make big plays. Despite being held without a catch for four games, he is averaging 3.3 catches for 36.9 yards per sim. He finished with four catches for 20 yards and 6.0 DKFP in his first matchup with the Packers, and if he gets that kind of volume in this rematch, I like his ceiling a lot due to his big-play potential.

Other Options — Calvin Ridley ($5,500), Tyler Boyd ($4,800), Michael Gallup ($4,700), Russell Gage ($4,000)

Tight End

Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers, $4,700 — Like in real life, virtual Philip Rivers ($5,600) relies heavily on his TE, which makes Burton a great option, especially against the Packers, who have solid cover CBs on the outside. Burton had seven catches for 85 yards and 15.5 DKFP in their first Madden 21 meeting and is averaging 4.8 catches per contest since taking over as TE1. He has had a few quiet games lately, but the matchup and the volume make him a great option at this very affordable salary for the top TE on the board.

Other Option — Blake Jarwin ($4,400)

Hayden Hurst, Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills, $3,900 — Hurst is another TE who gets high volume on a regular basis. Although the Bills have good cover CBs, they do give up plenty of big games to opposing TEs. Hurst had four catches, 56 yards, a touchdown and 15.6 DKFP in their first meeting and followed that with an impressive nine catches for 16.9 DKFP in the rematch. His PPR production is almost never lacking, which makes him a great option under $4K either in your TE spot or even in the flex spot since no other player in this salary range at any other position offers the kind of consistency he has been able to provide.

Other Option — Lee Smith ($3,600)

Falcons DST vs. Buffalo Bills, $2,900 — The downside of a scrambling QB in Madden 21 is that fumbles are much more of a possibility since carry ratings are typically lower for QBs than for RBs and WRs. Josh Allen has fumbled 20 times in his 49 sims, and the Falcons have recovered 19 fumbles in their 51 sims. It’s far from certain that there will be a turnover, but it’s a definite possibility in this matchup, and the Falcons’ DST has been solid overall in these sims as well, making it a pretty low-risk play. The Falcons allowed exactly 17 points in each of their first two meetings with Allen and the Bills, and they have forced 29 turnovers in their 51 sims to go with 105 sacks and four defensive touchdowns.

Packers DST at Indianapolis Colts, $2,800 — The Packers have some playmakers in their Madden 21 defense, led by Superstar X-factor CB Jaire Alexander. As a unit, the defense has compiled 102 sacks in 51 sims but only 16 takeaways. In their first Madden 21 sim against the Colts, the Packers had three sacks and 7.0 DKFP. They have been a boom-or-bust option and aren’t quite as safe a play as the Falcons, but I do like their upside much more than the other cheap options on this slate.
