Fantasy Basketball Value Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Bargain Plays for February 24

Kenny Ducey breaks down his top DraftKings NBA value plays for Wednesday’s fantasy basketball slate, which starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Happy Hump Day! We have a tasty nine-game NBA slate to pick from tonight, and with teams like the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors dealing with back-to-backs, we can anticipate some values from the benches of tired teams for your DraftKings lineups. We’re already running through some lower-cost options, but more could be available later on in the day with injury news coming in, so be sure to follow @dklive on Twitter and download the DK Live app to stay up-to-the-minute with all the latest news leading up to tipoff. We’ll let you know who should see an uptick in minutes.

There are plenty of high-profile, high-priced options that are worth considering at the top of the salary structure, but you’ll need to balance out some of those hefty salaries with some cheap plays, as well. Check out these four players who seem primed to outproduce their minimal salaries based on form, matchup and expected workload.

PG Payton Pritchard, Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks, $3,900

The Celtics are resting Kemba Walker on the second night of a back-to-back, so it’s fair to expect Pritchard to take on over 20 minutes at point guard — just as he did when Walker was last rested. Ironically, that game came a week ago against these very same Hawks, and Pritchard delivered 16.0 DKFP at $4.2K. You’re getting a nice discount off that, and I think the upside is higher than 16.0 DKFP given Atlanta’s injuries and shortcomings as a defensive unit.

PG Dennis Smith, Jr., Detroit Pistons at New Orleans Pelicans, $4,400

The price will continue to rise for Smith as long as Delon Wright (groin) remains out. The former first-round pick was afforded 18 minutes on Tuesday and made the very most of them, going for 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, good for 25.75 DKFP. On the second night of a back-to-back, Detroit will need to reach deep into their rotation to maintain a solid effort for 48 minutes, and I think that means going back to DSJ for at least 20. He should hit at least 5x value tonight.

SG Wayne Ellington, Detroit Pistons at New Orleans Pelicans, $3,600

It really feels like we all just abandoned Wayne Ellington when he entered into a shooting slump and forgot that he existed. The man was playing a bunch of minutes, taking almost 10 threes per game, knocking down an incredible number of them, and soaring above value. He’s fallen on hard times lately, but after being rested in last night’s contest he should see more action with fresh legs on a back-to-back. New Orleans ranks 28th against the three-ball, creating the perfect bounce-back spot for Ellington.

PF Semi Ojeleye, Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks, $3,200

Yep, it’s four picks from two games. Let’s consider Boston’s last win over Atlanta for a second. The Celtics won the battle in the paint with 20 more points than the Hawks — good for 66 on the game — which was the biggest difference between that game and their loss to Atlanta a few nights prior. Ojeleye is coming off a game in which he saw 24 minutes, and as long as he’s looked to for that same workload, he’ll do just fine to hit value here and then some. On the second night of a back-to-back, looking for some paint scoring, I think Semi should see a good dose of time on floor.
