Alex Hunter gives his top studs and values at each position for Monday’s fantasy basketball slate on DraftKings, which starts at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Monday night brings us a six-game slate that has a late start at 8:00 p.m. ET, and DraftKings continues to offer huge tournaments for DFS players. Below are some of my favorite targets at each position.

Point Guard

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks vs. Memphis Grizzlies, $11,400

Due to two straight weather postponements, the Mavs haven’t played in six days. Before this debacle, Doncic was on an absolute tear, scoring 64.9 DKFP per game in his past five with a mammoth 38.2% usage rate. With the extra rest, the budding superstar should be fresh and ready to destroy the Grizzlies on Monday night. Over their past 10, Memphis ranks 25th in defensive rating and point guards have been exposed them for the seventh-most DKFP per game during this stretch.

It also helps that the Mavs will be at home, where Doncic has supplied 2.0 more DKFP per game this season, compared to when he is on the road. The 21-year-old is the unrivaled top overall play tonight and worth the investment if you can squeeze him in.

Other Options: Russell Westbrook ($10,100), John Wall ($8,000), Chris Paul ($7,800)

Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets vs. Chicago Bulls, $6,300

With Victor Oladipo ($7,600; foot, doubtful) expected to miss his fourth game in a row, Gordon remains a viable mid-tier target. The shooting guard has been active five times without Oladipo this year and is amassing 34.1 DKFP per game on those occasions. The Bulls have a weak defensive backcourt and their defense as a whole currently ranks 21st in efficiency.

Gordon has a strong possibility of producing over five-times value tonight, especially if DeMarcus Cousins ($6,400; heel, questionable) is unable to suit up. The center was expected to keep playing for the Rockets as the team found a trade suitor for the veteran, but now his availability for Monday is in doubt with a heel injury. Christian Wood (ankle) is also still on the shelf and when he, Cousins, Oladipo and James Harden (traded to Brooklyn) have been off the floor this year, Gordon’s production has upgraded to 1.2 DKFP per minute.

Other Options: Kendrick Nunn ($5,700, if Tyler Herro is out)

Shooting Guard

Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls vs. Houston Rockets, $9,500

It’s hard to over-emphasize how good LaVine has been. Fresh off a 53.5 DKFP outing in the win over the Kings on Saturday, the Bulls’ guard is producing 52.1 DKFP per game in his past eight starts. Both Lauri Markkanen (shoulder) and Otto Porter Jr. (back) have missed all of these contests, resulting in a 36.7% usage rate for LaVine, and the pair of forwards will continue to be sidelined for Monday’s date with the Rockets.

Due to various injuries, this Houston defense has struggled recently (23rd in defensive rating in their past five), and both the Rockets and Bulls rank inside the top-five in pace this season. The uptempo atmosphere is perfect for LaVine to continue his brilliant run, and I suspect his ownership will remain in check with many big names on the slate.

Other Options: Donovan Mitchell ($8,700), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($8,400)

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards, $3,900

The Lakers have dropped two straight with Anthony Davis (Achilles) and Dennis Schroder (health protocols) of the lineup. However, we saw KCP have his best outing in over a month with the two starters absent Saturday when he recorded 25.25 DKFP in 35.2 minutes of work vs. the Heat. Outside of the overtime loss to the Pistons earlier this month, Saturday night is the highest minute total we have seen Caldwell-Pope receive this season.

The upside is never going to big with him only scoring 0.6 DKFP per minute in 2020-21, but this type of volume brings Caldwell-Pope into the value conversation tonight against a putrid Washington defense. Up until this point of the season, they rank 25th in defensive efficiency, while also featuring the fastest offense in basketball. Caldwell-Pope should be able to grind out over 20 DKFP in this dream matchup and is a decent punt if you need the salary relief.

Other Options: Grayson Allen ($5,200), Garrett Temple ($4,800)

Small Forward

LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards, $10,400

James hasn’t lived up to the hype with Davis and Schroder missing (averaging 48.6 DKFP in the last two), but it’s hard to imagine him not beating his price tag tonight against the Wizards. This game’s total is at 226 points and the Lakers are only 6.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. When the spread has been under 10 and the total has been 225 points or higher this season, James is supplying 50.5 DKFP.

Furthermore, the future Hall of Famer has shifted over to point guard with Schroder injured and the Wizards are giving up the sixth-most DKFP per game to opposing point guards this season. If choosing a stud, I prefer Doncic, but James isn’t far behind in this beautiful spot.

Other Options: Jimmy Butler ($9,200)

Derrick Jones Jr., Portland Trail Blazers vs. Phoenix Suns, $5,000

With a steady role, Jones Jr. has put up some strong numbers as of late. With at least 31 minutes in four straight, the athletic wing has generated 26.6 DKFP. His defensive stats have been up to 2.7 per game during this time and while tonight’s matchup isn’t the greatest vs. the Suns (eighth in defensive efficiency), Jones Jr. is in play at only $5,000.

Via DraftKings Sportsbook, this contest’s total is up to 229 points as of writing and the last six times he has started in a total above 225, Jones Jr. is contributing 26 DKFP.

Other Options: Dorian Finney-Smith ($4,800), Danuel House ($4,700, if Cousins out), David Nwaba ($4,600, if Cousins is out)

Power Forward

Kyle Kuzma, Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards, $6,700

With Davis off the table, power forward is extremely thin up top tonight and Kuzma, who has replaced AD in the Lakers’ starting five in these past two games, is probably as high I will go at the position. He has topped 30 DKFP and 30 minutes in each of these past two, and Kuzma’s usage reached 30.8% on Saturday night. In all the minutes he has played sans Davis and Schroder, Kuzma has received a 1.4% usage increase and he is providing 32.3 DKFP when he has surpassed 30 minutes this season.

Facing the defensively inept Wizards, Kuzma’s ceiling is north of 40 DKFP and I highly doubt he will carry much ownership in GPPs.

Other Options: Kristaps Porzingis ($8,500)

Isaiah Roby, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Miami Heat, $4,900

Al Horford has sat out the second leg of every possible back-to-back this season and it may be safe to assume he will be inactive Monday after starting in the win over the Cavs last night. In every contest that Roby has been active for with Horford on the sidelines, the 23-year-old has entered the first unit and is averaging 26.9 DKFP per game with the starters.

The second-year forward is collecting right under 1 DKFP per minute this season and he should get into the 25-30 minute range against this big Heat frontcourt. Going head-to-head with Bam Adebayo is never ideal, but Roby should still get the job done and return over five-times value.

Other Options: Jae’Sean Tate ($5,900, if Cousins is out)

Jonas Valanciunas, Memphis Grizzlies vs. Dallas Mavericks, $7,200

Tonight is a prime opportunity to buy-low on Valanciunas. No one is going to roster him after a down showing Saturday night (27.5 DKFP vs Phoenix), and Dillon Brooks will be absent for Memphis. When Brooks has been off the floor this season, Big Val has watched his usage jump 3.4% and he has scored a team-high 1.36 DKFP per minute.

The Mavs have no answer for a player of Valanciunas’s size and they are currently yielding the sixth-most rebounds per game. The 28-year-old brings slate-breaking upside every time he suits up and Valanciunas is an excellent risk to take in GPPs for this six-game slate.

Other Options: Bam Adebayo ($8,800), Rudy Gobert ($7,400)

Robert Covington, Portland Trail Blazers vs. Phoenix Suns, $6,500

Covington has been tremendous for Portland, amassing 36.3 DKFP per game across his past four. The Blazers’ coaching staff has finally realized that their best defender needs to be on the court as much as possible, giving Covington 37 minutes per game over this span. More importantly, regardless of the success, the 30-year-old has seen sub-10 percent ownership levels in DraftKings’ main GPP for all four of these games.

I expect this trend to continue tonight against a stout Phoenix defense, creating an awesome chance to gain leverage in GPPs. Yes, the floor isn’t the safest in this spot, but Covington’s big workload trumps the matchup concerns tonight.

Other Options: Mike Muscala ($3,800), P.J. Tucker ($3,500)
