Round 4 Recap — Sunday

Max Homa bests Tony Finau in a playoff at The Genesis Invitational

Playing in the tournament he attended as a child, Homa ($8,200; 120.5 DKFP) claimed the win over Finau ($9,300; 109.5 DKFP) on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff. After missing a four-foot putt to win on the final hole of regulation, Homa escaped from behind a tree to save par on the first hole of the playoff while Finau missed a putt to win. On the second hole of the playoff, Homa hit the green while Finau ended up in the bunker. Finau wasn’t able to save par, missing a 10-foot putt, and Homa two-putted to claim his second PGA Tour victory after claiming the Wells Fargo Championship back in 2019. For Finau, it’s another near-miss, giving him three straight runner-up finishes and four top-five finishes in his past five events. — Zach Thompson

Sam Burns flames out at The Genesis Invitational

After leading after each of the first three rounds, Sam Burns ($7,400; 103.5 DKFP) finished third after firing a two-under on Sunday. Burns started strong but had three bogeys in a four-hole stretch from No. 12 through No. 15. He finished one stroke out of a playoff at -11 for the week which was good enough for his second third-place finish of his career. It was his third top-10 of the season, but he is still looking for his first PGA TOUR win. Cameron Smith ($8,400; 91 DKFP) finished fourth while the international contingent of Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,600; 91 DKFP), Viktor Hovland ($8,700; 84 DKFP) and Jon Rahm ($10,400; 81 DKFP) finished tied for fifth. — Zach Thompson

Round 3 Recap — Saturday

Play suspended at The Genesis Open

The third round of The Genesis Open in Pacific Palisades, CA has been suspended until Sunday morning. Sam Burns ($7,400; 95.5 DKFP), who’s two over through 13 holes, currently stands as the leader by two shots over Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,600; 84 DKFP), who was pulled off the course on the 18th hole when play was suspended. He’s currently three under on the day. The third round was suspended for four hours due to wind before eventually resuming on Saturday evening. The group still yet to finish will get an early start on Sunday. — Kenny Ducey

Round 2 Recap — Friday

Sam Burns holds massive lead after second round of Genesis Invitational

Burns ($7,400) has gotten off to a flying start at the Genesis Invitational. He opened with a seven-under-par 64 on Thursday and followed that up with a five-under-par 66 on Friday, bringing him to 12-under-par for the tournament. That gives him a commanding five-shot lead over a group of golfers tied for second at seven-under-par. Burns had a whopping eight birdies or better in the first round, and he didn’t have a single score worse than par during the second round. That’s great news for the DFS players who rostered him across approximately 12.5% of DraftKings lineups. Despite his massive lead, Burns is only a slight favorite to win the tournament at +225 on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Dustin Johnson ($11,300) just behind at +250. — Matt LaMarca

Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau among notable missed cuts at Genesis

After carding a six over 77 on Thursday at Riviera Country Club, Thomas ($10,700) improved in the second round but still shot two-over-par. After making the cut in 14 of his past 15 starts, the No. 3-ranked player in the world was only three shots away from last place following Friday’s round. DeChambeau ($10,100) had a solid second round, shooting a two-under 69, but it wasn’t enough, keeping him two shots outside of the cutline at the Genesis Invitational. Hideki Matsuyama ($9,100) was also another notable player to miss the weekend, along with Carlos Ortiz ($7,800), who was the sixth-highest owned golfer in DraftKings’ $1.2 Million Flop Shot tournament at 18.9%. — Alex Hunter

Round 1 Recap — Thursday

Sam Burns shoots a -7 to lead The Genesis Invitational after one round

Entering The Genesis Invitational, Burns ($7,400: 65 DKFP) had been getting off to fast starts, finishing in the top five after the first round in three tournaments. Make it four now after he shot a -7 to take a two-stroke lead over Matthew Fitzpatrick ($7,600: 45.5 DKFP) and Max Homa ($8,200: 46 DKFP) Thursday. Burns got the morning started off right as he eagled the first hole. He did bogey holes six and 12, but he birdied five, seven, nine, and 13 before ending the day strong with birdies on the final three holes. He was first in SG: Approach the Green and third in SG: Putting. DK Sportsbook has Burns +1000 to win after Thursday. — Stan Son

Matt Fitzpatrick, Max Homa off to hot start at The Genesis Invitational

Fitzpatrick ($7,600; 45.5 DKFP) and Homa ($8,200; 46 DKFP) sit in a tie for second place at five-under after one round at the Genesis Invitational in California. Fitzpatrick, who went off at just seven percent ownership in the $1.2M Flop Shot contest, began his day with an eagle on one before sinking four more birdie putts and mixing in a bogey. Homa, a more popular choice at 13.3% ownership, had three birdies and a bogey before birdieing the final three holes to card a 66 and earn the bonus for three consecutive birdies. Both sit two back of Sam Burns ($7,400; 65 DKFP), and Fitzpatrick (+1400) has slightly better odds to win the tournament than Homa (+1600) on the DraftKings Sportsbook. — Kenny Ducey
