Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for February 17

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Wednesday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

It’s another wild weather Wednesday on the DraftKings Dream Stream with six games coming your way with adverse weather impacting each contest. After a pair of snow games and a game from soggy virtual Pittsburgh in the first three contests of the day, the three-game featured classic slate kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET with a matchup in the snow between the Tennessee Titans and the Denver Broncos. In primetime at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Washington Football Team hosts the New England Patriots in a game that will be played in the wind, which can make long passes challenging. The final matchup of the day on “Madden After Dark” will feature a battle of the birds as the Atlanta Falcons wing their way to virtual Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in a rain game.

As in all these Madden sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons, $7,100 — Russ has been scuffling a little bit recently in these sims, but a rainy matchup with the Falcons should give him a chance to cook in this contest. Wilson did have 22.6 DKFP in his most recent sim after four straight performances with under 15 DKFP. Wilson is usually much better than that, averaging 22.1 DKFP in his 45 sims in Madden 21 with 59 passing touchdowns and 23 rushing scores. He is averaging 181 passing yards and 64.8 rushing yards per contest, and he remains one of the best dual-threat QBs in the game with both a high ceiling and typically a good amount of consistency as well. This will be the fourth time he faced the Falcons, and he posted over 26 DKFP in two of their three previous matchups. Usually, he runs a little more in the rain and can actually benefit from the poor footing for the defenders.

Other Option — Matt Ryan ($6,300)

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos, $6,100 — The Broncos just gave up that bounce-back game to Wilson, and they have been a generally favorable matchup in these sims. Tannehill torched them up for 335 yards, three touchdowns and 27.4 DKFP in their previous meeting, and he has that kind of a ceiling in this rematch as well. While he does bring plenty of upside, Tannehill has been hit-or-miss throughout these contests overall. He has had over 20 DKFP in each of his two most recent sims but had been held under 20 DKFP in six of his previous eight contests. However, if you’re ok with boom-or-bust production and are looking to go with a cheap QB, he’s definitely the best play of the lower group due to his matchup and his best games being much better than typical performances by Drew Lock ($5,300) and Dwayne Haskins Jr. ($5,500).

Running Back

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos, $8,300 — Henry has been a beast in these Madden 21 sims since he is now both the RB1 and third-down back for the Titans, after ceding third-down work to Dion Lewis back in Madden 2020. Henry has used his expanded role to average 3.8 catches for 27.1 receiving yards in addition to his 84.8 rushing yards per game. Henry has also scored five touchdowns as a receiver, giving him 44 total in his 45 sims. King Henry hardly ever has a down game with over 13 DKFP in 13 straight sims. He should be able to run wild in the snow against the Broncos, who he lit up for 27.1 DKFP in their first meeting.

Other Options — Todd Gurley II ($7,400), J.D. McKissic ($6,700)

James White, New England Patriots at Washington Football Team, $5,200 — One way Cam Newton ($6,600) can avoid the pressure from Washington’s defense is by unloading quick passes to White out of the backfield. Those passes should also be less impacted by the wind since their time in the air is limited. White has been very busy as the team’s third-down back, averaging 3.2 catches for 21.0 yards per sim. He just had eight catches and 14.7 DKFP in his most recent contest, which was against the Packers, and he has multiple receptions in 12 of his past 13 sims.

Other Options — Phillip Lindsay ($6,000), Carlos Hyde ($3,700)

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons at Seattle Seahawks, $7,000 — Jones is the only WR with a salary over $6K on this slate and is clearly the top option if his salary is no issue. He has averaged 17.5 DKFP per sim on 4.8 catches for 77.3 yards per contest and has scored 31 touchdowns in 45 sims. He has four of those scores in his past three games, highlighted by a two-touchdown game against the Packers that resulted in 25.8 DKFP. Jones is usually a very stable producer with double-digit DKFP in 11 of his past 14 sims and also comes with a high ceiling, which he showed off with 30.4 DKFP in one of his three prior matchups with the Seahawks. Unless you go big at other roster spots and stack value WR, Jones is a key consideration at the top of the WR salary structure.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos vs. Tennessee Titans, $5,300 — The Broncos’ rookie WR has had a strong showing in these sims and is a steady source of mid-range production. He has at least four catches in six of his past seven contests and has scored a touchdown in each of his two most recent sims. He also had a score in his previous game against Tennessee, when he hauled in five catches for 56 yards and 16.6 DKFP. Jeudy is Denver’s WR2 but has been more productive lately than WR1 Courtland Sutton ($5,200).

Damiere Byrd, New England Patriots at Washington Football Team, $4,200 — Byrd has been on a touchdown binge with five scores in his past five games after scoring just four touchdowns in his previous 33 appearances. Byrd is the Patriots’ speedy WR3 and should be able to find room to make plays against a Washington secondary that lacks depth. As a big-play threat, he doesn’t get a ton of volume, but when he hits, he usually delivers great value.

Other Options — DK Metcalf ($5,600), A.J. Brown ($5,100), Russell Gage ($4,400), Adam Humphries ($3,800)

Tight End

Greg Olsen, Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons, $4,700 — Olsen continues to be the Seahawks’ top TE in these sims despite his retirement at the end of the season in real life, and he has been a very good option throughout Madden 21, averaging 4.1 catches for 43.5 yards per sim and scoring 14 touchdowns in 44 contests. Olsen had over 11 DKFP in two of his three previous meetings with the Falcons, who have been generous to opposing TEs in these sims.

Other Options — Jonnu Smith ($4,400), Devin Asiasi ($4,200)

Jeremy Sprinkle, Washington Football Team vs. New England Patriots, $4,100 — The Patriots’ elite secondary has forced opposing QBs to rely on TEs a little bit more than usual in these sims, and that will likely be the case for Haskins in this matchup, especially with the wind in play as well. Sprinkle has had a few monster games and also been reliably involved in Washington’s offense in Madden, even though he was passed by Logan Thomas ($2,900) on the depth chart in real life. Sprinkle is averaging 4.0 catches for 45.1 yards per sim and is typically one of the safest plays at just over $4K at any position.

Other Option — Noah Fant ($3,900)

Seahawks DST vs. Atlanta Falcons, $3,200 — The Seahawks at home in the rain are too good of a matchup to pass up. The hard-hitting defense has recovered 37 fumbles in 45 sims, creating a total of 46 turnovers to go with its nine defensive touchdowns. The Seahawks have also piled up 104 sacks in 45 contests to help them average 7.6 DKFP per contest. They should be able to get pressure on Matt Ryan in this contest and force turnovers due to the sloppy conditions.

Patriots DST at Washington Football Team, $2,900 — The Patriots have been the second-most productive DST on this slate, averaging 6.1 DKFP, and they come at a nice discount in this favorable matchup with Haskins and Washington. The Patriots have forced 53 turnovers in their 46 sims with 78 sacks and 10 defensive touchdowns. The wind should allow them to limit the Washington offense to a low number, and they could go big if they get a turnover or two as well. Given the matchup and lower salary, the Patriots are a solid alternative to the Seahawks on this slate.
