The PGA TOUR is out west in California again for this week’s event, with the Farmers Insurance Open scheduled to begin this Thursday. The recent fields have been somewhat limited, but this week’s list of players is much closer to full with names like Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy back in action. Torrey Pines Golf Course is actually made up of two different golf courses, and half of the field will be teeing off on each when the action gets underway Thursday morning.

Jon Rahm withdrew before last week’s American Express, but he’s back this week and opens as both the betting favorite, and the most popular overall bet. As you can see above, however, the betting splits don’t really seem to favor anyone, as the bets and handle numbers are very evenly distributed across the top-end players. Rahm, McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau are the four odds-on favorites to win, and all four are receiving between three and seven percent of both the bets and handle.
There aren’t any true long shots making this list, but Gary Woodland at 55 to 1 does stand out as a notably popular bet in this group. Woodland finished 16th last week, which was actually his best performance of 2021, but the reason DraftKings bettors may be gravitating toward him is the strong play he showed at the end of 2020. Woodland earned four top 10s in his final five rounds of 2020 — two of which were top fives — and a few tough weeks since doesn’t seem to have detracted from his betting popularity this week.
