Every. Single. Team.
On the final day of the regular season, all 30 teams are taking the field this afternoon during the 3 p.m. ET hour. It’s important to keep an eye on lineups, as teams could opt to rest starters ahead of the playoffs, with the Wild Card Series starting on Tuesday. Let’s get into the final stacks article of the 2020 MLB regular season!

1. Houston Astros
We have the benefit of picking on Jordan Lyles ($6,300) one last time before the Rangers go into the sunset with another losing season. Lyles has been nothing short of a disaster when he takes the mound and at home, he has a .377 wOBA, a 6.40 FIP and six of the 11 total home runs he’s allowed. With nothing to play for on the Rangers side, they won’t be looking to get Lyles out quickly to save him for the playoffs or anything, so I’m not worried about him being used as an opener. Focus on the power right-handed bats first and then mix in some of the lefties.
Players to Consider
Alex Bregman ($4,700)
Carlos Correa ($4,600)Kyle Tucker ($4,200)
Michael Brantley ($4,100)
Jose Altuve ($5,000)
EDITOR’S NOTE: Tucker is not in the lineup for today’s game vs. the Rangers.
2. Baltimore Orioles
Tanner Roark ($7,000) is taking the hill for the playoff-bound Jays, so I’m liking the idea that he’s left out to dry this afternoon. I can’t imagine Roark is heavily involved in the Jays’ plans for the playoffs, although they may be forced to use him without days off in the series. Nonetheless, the Orioles are in a great spot against the shaky command of Roark. With an overall 7.15 FIP, a 10.5% BB% and a 2.89 HR/9, it’s hard to not want to get some O’s in your lineup. Roark has faced the Orioles twice already and has only pitched 10 innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on 17 hits. Righties have completely destroyed Roark specifically, tagging him with a .505 wOBA, a 8.65 FIP and 10 of the 14 home runs he’s given up. Luckily for the O’s they’re very right-handed heavy.
Players to Consider
Ryan Mountcastle ($3,900)Jose Iglesias ($3,900)
Renato Nunez ($3,700)
DJ Stewart ($2,100)
Rio Ruiz ($3,700)
EDITOR’S NOTE: Iglesias is not in the lineup for today’s game vs. the Jays.
3. Chicago White Sox
The Cubs, like many teams today, are rolling with an opener and a long reliever out of the bullpen today. Adbert Alzolay ($8,600) will open the game for the Cubs and then give way to Jose Quintana ($7,100), who has only thrown eight innings this season. The focus on the stack is more against Quintana, who the White Sox should see the bulk of the innings from. They boast so much power against lefties it’s hard to ignore. It doesn’t make much sense to go off the 2020 numbers from Quintana with such little data but in 2019, he had a .336 wOBA, a 4.24 FIP and 19 of his 20 home runs were hit by righties. The White Sox are loaded with power right-handed bats so they could easily tee off on Quintana in this spot.
Players to Consider
Tim Anderson ($5,500)
Jose Abreu ($5,300)James McCann ($3,600)
Luis Robert ($3,400)
Yoan Moncada ($4,400)
EDITOR’S NOTE: McCann is not in the lineup for today’s game vs. the Cubs.
4. Cincinnati Reds
Rich Hill ($8,100) will be taking the hill for the Twins and will be bringing his lucky streak with him. Despite a 3.27 ERA, Hill also has a 4.10 FIP, indicating he’s been getting a bit lucky in these starts. The Reds are a good team against lefties with an immense amount of power that could potentially change his fortunes before the Twins head into the playoffs. Hill has been very shaky with his command this season with a 10.4% BB%. For reference, he hasn’t ended a season with a BB% in double-digits since 2014. The Reds are more of a free-swinging team but the potential to toss some free passes into the mix is appealing with some of the power the team boasts.
Players to Consider
Nick Castellanos ($4,000)
Eugenio Suarez ($3,800)Jesse Winker ($3,700)
Curt Casali ($2,600)Freddy Galvis ($2,700)
EDITOR’S NOTE: Winker and Galvis are not in the lineup for today’s game vs. the Twins.
