Thursday is usually a small baseball slate and that’s exactly what we have this evening. Nonetheless, we still have plenty of betting opportunities to take advantage of on DraftKings Sportsbook, so let’s get right into it. As always, feel free to follow me on Twitter @SBuchanan24.
Let’s dive into three of my favorite MLB bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday’s slate.

Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals:
Kansas City Royals over 5.5 runs +112
This feels like quite the large team total for the Royals, who on the season are averaging just 4.1 runs per game, which is one of the lowest in MLB. However, we have reason to be optimistic about their potential output tonight against the Tigers’ bullpen. First, Michael Fulmer is set to open and he’s been so wildly inconsistent with his 6.73 FIP, a 4.2 BB/9 and a 2.49 HR/9. After he’s done, it’s expected that Tyler Alexander will handle the bulk of the innings, which is great news for the Royals! They’re a middle of the road team against lefties with a .311 wOBA, a .162 ISO and a 94 wRC+, but it’s been Alexander that’s been bad in these spots. He has a a 5.02 FIP, a 1.87 HR/9 and throws a ton of pitches. I like getting plus money in this spot and think the Royals can put up some offense against a weak bullpen.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Corbin Burnes strikeouts over 7.5 +105
I’m honestly surprised we’re getting plus money on the over. Burnes just faced this club two starts ago and struck out 10 through 4 2⁄3 innings. Think about that for a second. He produced a 43.5% K% in that start with a 15% swing-and-miss rate. Since moving into the rotation, Burnes has a 13.5 K/9 and faces a Cardinals team in the month of September that has produced a K% of 25.1%, which currently ranks ninth in the league. Finally, over his last six starts, Corbin has at LEAST seven strikeouts in all of them. So, as I was saying, the fact that we’re getting plus money on this is very nice.
Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros
Houston Astros to score 1st and win +130
As expected, Lance Lynn has tailed off after his stellar start to the season. In his first start against the Astros earlier this month, he was wrecked for six runs on eight hits through six innings. I like taking this bet as the Astros average the second-highest amount of runs in the first inning at 0.79, trailing only the Phillies, who are at 0.84. Even if they don’t grab the runs in the first inning, the Astros average 2.93 runs through the first five innings, while the Rangers are at just 2.04. Finally, with Cristian Javier on the mound, he’s held opposing teams to just a .259 wOBA the first time through the order.
