Wednesday features a 10-game MLB slate starting at 7:05 p.m. ET. While it doesn’t feature many top names, as indicated by just one pitcher, Yu Darvish, priced over $10K, we do have a good mix in the pitching pool. Fear not, we have some good choices to stack against as well, which we’ll feature in this article.

As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

1. Houston Astros

I would love it if Robbie Ray ($6,500) could get his game straight. He has legitimate ace stuff but he simply can’t get out of his own way. Thus, Ray is dirt cheap tonight and is likely going to get lit up by an Astros team that hit lefties extremely well. Just ask Madison Bumgarner, who was lit up for seven runs on eight hits through 3 13 innings last night. This is the same scenario for the ‘Stros tonight against Ray, who has already been touched up for eight runs on nine hits while allowing nine walks in 8 13 innings. Keep in mind, the Astros should be very popular tonight, especially after their outburst in the 8-2 win yesterday.

Players to Consider

Alex Bregman ($5,300)
Carlos Correa ($4,300)
George Springer ($5,700)
Jose Altuve ($5,700)
Yuli Gurriel ($4,100)

2. Toronto Blue Jays

From a chalky stack to maybe a not so chalky stack, the Blue Jays have my eye tonight. They’ll be on the road in Atlanta taking on Sean Newcomb ($6,000), who hasn’t exactly had a great start to the season. He’s only faced the Mets thus far but they tagged him for seven runs on nine hits through 7 23 innings. Newcomb was primarily used in the bullpen last season after struggling in the rotation in 2018. His command has always been an issue and I wouldn’t be shocked to see that creep up again tonight. As a starter throughout his career, Newcomb boasts a 12.1 BB% through 278 13 innings. #NotGreat. The Jays also have some legit power numbers against lefties as well, so I’m thinking this could be a stack that could end up surprising in the end.

Players to Consider

Bo Bichette ($4,700)
Teoscar Hernandez ($4,100)
Lourdes Gurriel Jr ($4,500)
Danny Jansen ($3,300)
Vlad Guerrero Jr ($4,400)

3. Los Angeles Angels

Marco Gonzales ($6,800) pitched well against the Angels the last time he was out, tossing 6 13 innings while allowing just two unearned runs on three hits and striking out six. It was a good start for him, but he also wasn’t getting the full Angels lineup with absence of Mike Trout ($6,200). I’m thinking the Angels will come around this time around and get the better of him. Despite his good numbers overall thus far, Gonzales is allowing a massive 54.5% hard-hit rate and only generating a 7.8% swing-and-miss rate. Without missing bats and allowing so much hard contact, it’s only a matter of time before an offense breaks through. With some good pop vs. lefties, the Angels can be that team.

Players to Consider

Mike Trout ($6,200)
Anthony Rendon ($5,200)
Albert Pujols ($3,700)
Brian Goodwin ($3,200)
Justin Upton ($3,500)

4. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs will head to Kauffman Stadium to continue playing the Royals. Kris Bubic ($6,400) will be making his second major league start after allowing two runs on three hits through four innings against the White Sox. While he has the makeup of a major league starter, it’s not out of the realm to see him endure some growing pains. The Cubs are a tough lineup, especially at the top of the order. Last season, three players, Kris Bryant ($4,800), Javier Baez ($5,000) and Willson Contreras ($4,800), all finished with an ISO over .300 last season against lefties. With power like that, it’s hard to not want to stack these guys.

Players to Consider

Kris Bryant ($4,800)
Javier Baez ($5,000)
Willson Contreras ($4,800)
Ian Happ ($4,000)
Anthony Rizzo ($5,400)

5. Cincinnati Reds

If you want a total off the wall stack, you can consider the Reds going up against Mike Clevinger ($9,200). This is not a pitcher I’m normally looking to target against so I would save this for a large field tournament only. However, it hasn’t been the smoothest start of the year for Clevinger. His 7.09 FIP through two starts is a big jump from his 4.91 ERA and opposing hitters have also tagged him with a 44.8% hard-hit rate. He also uncharacteristically had some real shaky command, walking five Twins hitters in his last outing. On the flip side, his best pitching numbers did come at home last season, where the Indians will be playing tonight. All in all, the Reds will draw very little attention in this matchup but in a large field tournament, I’m more than willing to take a shot with that powerful lineup.

Players to Consider

Eugenio Suarez ($4,400)
Jesse Winker ($3,700)
Nick Castellanos ($4,600)
Joey Votto ($4,400)
Mike Moustakas ($4,200)

Editors Note: Mike Moustakas is not in the Reds starting lineup for tonight.
