MLB Cheat Sheet: DraftKings Fantasy Baseball DFS Predictions for August 26

Steve Buchanan breaks down Wednesday’s DraftKings MLB slate with pitching and hitting analysis, odds, lines and prop bets.

Yesterday was an extremely frustrating evening highlighted by the late cancellation of the Yankees-Braves game after lineups locked. The article overall did well but that certainly didn’t start us off on the right foot. Wednesday features a really solid slate of games with an abundance of pitching options to choose from and teams to stack on DraftKings.

As always, feel free to follow me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Editor’s Note: Tonight’s Reds-Brewers, Dodgers-Giants and Mariners-Padres games have been boycotted and postponed.

Game Notes

Biggest Favorite

Jacob deGrom, $11,000, NYM vs. MIA — It’s not a big surprise to see that the most expensive pitcher on this slate is also the biggest favorite. At $11K, deGrom will be making his sixth start overall and third against the Marlins. In those previous starts, he has allowed two runs on 11 hits while striking out 13 through 11 innings, good for a 21.5 DKFP average. As you’d imagine, deGrom has been putting up stellar numbers across the board and this matchup against the Marlins is enticing when you consider they have just a .318 wOBA, a .128 ISO and a 24% K% against righties. It will be very interesting to see how his ownership plays out, however, as we also have Clayton Kershaw ($10,200) and Mike Clevinger ($8,900), who is making his return against the Twins.

Other notable favorites: Dakota Hudson ($8,100) vs. Royals

Lineup Starters

Pitcher to Build Around

Dinelson Lamet, SD vs. SEA, $8,600 — This slate features a lot of pitchers I’m really into tonight. Of course, deGrom and Kershaw are the obvious choices but I also think Lamet is in a great spot as well. He’s been a strikeout machine thus far, boasting a 34.1% K% through six starts, with at least seven strikeouts in five of them. The offense for the Mariners has been better as of late but they also have a 23.5% K% against righties and one of the lowest BB% at 7.8%. Lamet still feels a bit cheap for the upside he brings and if he tosses another good start, which he better because I’m singing his praises, he’ll easily be closing in on $9K+. I’ll take this opportunity to get him in the mid $8K range, a salary we potentially may not see again.

Heavy Hitter to Pay For

Trevor Story, COL vs. ARI, $5,300 — The Rockies are not a great hitting club on the road: this is nothing new. However, what Story is currently doing is not to be ignored. Over his last 10 games, he’s averaging 12.3 DKFP, which includes three HR, six RBI and three SB. The stolen bases are coming fast and furious with him this season, as he’s already up to seven. Over a full 162-game season, he’d be on pace for a new career-high at 39. Then of course, we should mention he’s facing Robbie Ray ($6,900), who is doing nothing but giving up home runs (9) and walks (25) through 27 innings. Is this a sneaky play? Nope. Is this THE play though? Yup.

Save Big by Drafting

Brad Miller, STL vs. KC, $4,000 — I did not think I would ever be writing anything to do with Miller in my life but here we are. Give the man some credit, he’s mashing the ball right now and gets a very good matchup to continue that trend. Jakob Junis ($7,300) will be making his return to the mound tonight but he brings with him some very poor numbers against lefties. Since last season, Junis has allowed a .350 wOBA with a 4.36 FIP vs. lefties. Miller has been hitting in the heart of the lineup and has already posted a .421 wOBA with a .161 ISO against righties.

Favorite Team To Stack

OAK vs. TEX (vs. Kolby Allard) — The A’s are a dangerous team against lefties and now face a pitcher who has posted negative fantasy points in two straight starts. Kolby Allard ($6,800) has been getting wrecked and over those two starts has allowed 10 runs on 13 hits through just 3.2 innings. Now he faces an A’s team that against lefties has a .329 wOBA with a .210 ISO.
