The PGA TOUR is shipping up to Boston this week for The Northern Trust at TPC Boston. The event is the first in the FedExCup Playoffs and thus will have a star-studded 125-golfer field, including several past Northern Trust winners such as Tiger Woods ($8,700), Rory McIlroy ($10,800) and Bryson DeChambeau ($11,100). Collin Morikawa ($10,200) also returns to the links for the first time since winning the PGA Championship. Patrick Reed ($9,000) is the defending champion, having finished one stroke ahead of Abraham Ancer ($7,700) at last year’s event when it was held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. DeChambeau won the last PGA TOUR event, the Dell Technologies Championship, at TPC Boston in 2018 by two strokes over Justin Rose ($8,000). The top 65 and ties will make the cut after 36 holes and at the conclusion of The Northern Trust, the FedEx Cup Playoffs field will be reduced to 70 heading into next week’s BMW Championship.
