Quarterbacks

Stud

Josh Allen, BUF vs. PHI ($6,200)

Even though Allen is rarely considered a “stud” type of player, there isn’t a QB on tonight’s slate priced over $7,000. All the players at this position are priced within $1,100 of each other and there aren’t star quarterbacks playing tonight. This limits the options to choose from and Allen isn’t really a player I am seriously considering rostering. Even so, it is a Weather Wednesday and he has the rushing ability to offset how the weather could impact his ability to throw the ball. Allen has rushed for 1,581 yards in our sims and has 17 rushing touchdowns.

Value

Mitchell Trubisky, CHI vs. LAR ($5,700)

The reason I don’t think Allen is a serious consideration on this slate is because we have Trubisky to roster. He’s the cheapest starting quarterback on the slate and averages the most DKFP of any player going tonight. Trubisky averages 20.2 DKFP and has a game that should perform well in the bad weather. He’s rushed for 1,561 simulated yards.

Running Backs

Stud

Dalvin Cook, MIN at TEN ($6,400)

The Madden version of Dalvin Cook continues to play for a contract in real life. Ever since Cook announced that he was holding out to get a new contract, his Madden production has taken off. Is this a coincidence? Yes, but it doesn’t mean I can’t find it entertaining. Cook has scored double-digit DKFP in 10 consecutive games and scored as many as 44.4 DKFP over this stretch.

Value

Tarik Cohen, CHI vs. LAR ($3,600)

A boom or bust option at running back, Cohen has the potential to be the best value at the position. Oddly, it might be better for Cohen to be in a matchup against a good team than a bad team. Due to his role as the pass-catching back, he gets more playing time in the second half when the Bears are trailing than when they are holding a lead. The last time Chicago lost a sim by double-digits, Cohen scored 17.9 DKFP. Playing against a tough Rams team, there is a good chance that Cohen is going to be leaned on for his pass catching abilities late in the game.

Wide Receivers

Stud

Adam Thielen, MIN at TEN ($6,000)

Since Stefon Diggs ($7,600) is only averaging 11.5 DKFP in Madden, Thielen has been forced to step up for the Vikings. This could be a preview of what we will see from Minnesota in real life since Diggs is no longer on the team. Thielen is averaging 15.3 DKFP, the most of any wide receiver on the slate. He’s also scored at least 14 DKFP in six straight games and there isn’t a single receiver other than Thielen who even averages 14 DKFP on this slate.

Value

Nelson Agholor, PHI at BUF ($4,100)

This is a tough slate to find a cheap receiver to be confident in. None of the available options have produced particularly well. Add in the weather factor and it seems there’s a good chance that a lot of wideouts put up duds tonight. At least in Agholor, we get a possession receiver who gets short targets in the passing game. In theory, this should mean he’s less impacted by bad weather than most wide receivers. Agholor has recorded three or more receptions 10 games in a row.

Tight Ends

Stud

Zach Ertz, PHI at BUF ($5,500)

One of the highest-rated skill position players on the slate, Ertz has a 90 overall rating. This has led to him averaging 14.7 DKFP, by far the most of any tight end on the slate. In total, Ertz has 2,105 receiving yards on 164 receptions. Since he typically relies more on volume than big plays, Ertz is another player that I think won’t see his production get crushed by bad weather.

Value

Tyler Kroft, BUF vs. PHI ($3,700)

The best course of action at this position is likely going to be paying up for Ertz. There isn’t a tight end on this slate priced under $5,000 that averages double-digit DKFP. Kroft puts up 9.7 DKFP per game and comes with a ton of variance. While that upside and a recent 18.7 DKFP could be enough to win a GPP, he doesn’t have these types of games with enough consistency to trust. Kroft has scored under 9.0 DKFP in six of his last eight games. Every cheap tight end on this slate comes with similar issues.

Defense/Special Teams

Vikings DST at TEN ($2,900)

The Vikings have had the best defense in our Madden sims. They average 7.2 DKFP and no other DST on this slate averages over 5.0 DKFP. In addition, the Titans haven’t had a good offense in Madden. They have only scored over 20 points in three of their last nine games and the lack of accuracy from Ryan Tannehill ($6,400) could lead to a turnover or two in the bad weather.
