Total 3 pointers made by LeBron:
O/U 2.5
James is firing away from downtown more than he ever has in his career, attempting 6.4 triples per game. He’s also making more than he ever has in his career at 2.4 per game, at a 34.9% clip. I’ll admit this one should be tight, but I think the over will be a popular play, where the numbers offer us a slight advantage on the under. The Lakers and Clippers have played in three grinders so far this season, with LeBron shooting a combined 5-for-23 from downtown, and connecting on no more than two in a single game.
Pick: UNDER 2.5
Total 3 pointers made by Zion:
O/U 0.5
I think we all remember Williamson going 4-for-4 from downtown when he came to life in the fourth quarter in his NBA debut, but what do you remember about Zion from deep since then? Welp, he’s made two total triples over an 18-game span. So while the rookie is capable, he actually has only made a 3-pointer in 15.8% of his career games played.
Pick: UNDER 0.5
With the NBA returning, DraftKings is hosting a Millionaire contest that pays out $3 million in total prizes, including $1 million to first place. Set your DraftKings Millionaire lineups here: NBA $3M Return Millionaire [$1M to 1st! + ToC Entry].
Will LeBron or Zion finish with a Triple-Double?
There’s nothing fancy to this one. There are strong odds that neither of these two posts a triple-double in the large majority of their games. But looking at the board, this could be a spot where people try to get cute, or find it more fun to cheer for a triple-double. Fading is an easy call.
Pick: NO
Who will finish with more Points, Rebounds, Assists and Blocks:
LeBron James and Anthony Davis or Zion Williamson and Jrue Holiday?
This definitely isn’t a spot I expect many to be contrarian and take the Pelicans stars over the Lakers stars. So I’m just here to remind you to follow the masses and be different in other spots. LeBron and AD average a combined 86.3 if you add all these statistical categories together. Zion and Holiday are left in the dust with a 65.3 average. It’s just not close enough to justify being contrarian.
Pick: LeBron and AD
Will the Lakers and Pelicans both Win?
I think most people will eat the chalk and say that the two favorites win. Heck, I think the Pelicans and Lakers are both going to win. But if you parlay those two outcomes on DKSB, the parlay pays out at +161 — implying far less than a 50% chance of both teams winning. If the masses will go with the chalk, and we can get the more likely outcome at “lower ownership,” I’ll go that way.
Pick: NO
