Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for July 27

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Monday’s six-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 12:00 p.m. ET.

DraftKings continues to provide some great sports simulations even with baseball and basketball starting to resume. Each day there are six Madden Streams with eight free contests to be a part of. You can play a single-game Showdown for each contest along with an all-day, six-game classic contest and a three-game late slate contest. Each simulation will be played out via an online Madden Stream using Madden 2020 with rosters and ratings from the end of the 2019-20 season. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post. Follow along to watch your fantasy team pile up fantasy points.

Monday starts another work week of sims with the Giants and Falcons kicking off at 12 p.m. ET. At 2 p.m. ET the Colts and Dolphins continue the sims from virtual Miami. The Chargers are in Oakland to face the Raiders at 4 p.m. ET in an all-Cali matchup. The 6 p.m. ET matchup starts the second half of the slate with the Titans and Packers in virtual Tennessee. The primetime matchup is a good one between the Bears and the Patriots, before we wrap up the day with a 10 p.m. ET “Madden After Dark” matchup between the Eagles and 49ers.

All six of those matchups have some intriguing fantasy options to consider, and the 12 teams provide plenty of plays across the board. I’ll give you my favorites at each position and price point below. For more information, you can always check out the Madden info page for all the data on player ratings, special abilities and what you can look forward to coming soon.

Quarterback

Stud

Aaron Rodgers, GB at TEN, $7,300 — Rodgers has been up-and-down in these sims as a whole, but he has been locked in lately and has a good matchup against the Titans. He had multiple touchdowns in each of his past two games with 26.0 DKFP against the Patriots and 22.86 DKFP against the Eagles. He also had a big game the last time he faced the Titans, throwing four scores and posting 31.76 DKFP. He hasn’t been a must-play whenever he’s on the slate but I think he’s in a good spot and there aren’t any other must-play elite QBs on this slate.

Other Options — Tom Brady ($7,400), Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,800)

Value

Mitchell Trubisky, CHI at NE, $5,900 — Trubisky has been legendary in these Madden sims using his rushing ability to average 20.5 DKFP per sim, the highest mark of any QB on this slate. Trubisky has thrown three scores in each of his past two games for 22.38 DKFP and 27.16 DKFP. He has at least 18 DKFP in four straight and six of his past seven and has reached that number in 25-of-39 sims (64%). His production on the ground makes him low-risk while also giving him a high ceiling even against a tough Patriots defense. He had 28.7 DKFP in his first meeting with the Pats.

Other Option — Derek Carr ($6,500), Daniel Jones ($5,600)

Running Back

Stud

Devonta Freeman, ATL at NYG, $6,300 — Freeman is one of the few elite RB1 options who gets all the work in the backfield as both a ball carrier and a receiver. He has been very effective as both in these sims and has averaged 17.4 DKFP per contest while scoring an impressive 31 touchdowns in 39 sims and averaging 63.2 rushing yards along with 25.2 receiving yards per contest. Freeman had one of his worst games against the Giants in the first meeting between these teams, but New York’s defense hasn’t been good enough against RBs to consider that a trend. It’s much more of an outlier and I think Freeman makes a very nice play in this matchup due to his volume.

Other Options — Saquon Barkley ($6,600), James White ($5,900)

Value

Tevin Coleman, SF vs. PHI, $5,800— Coleman has been a total stud since the very start of these sims and continues to put up huge numbers. He ran for 167 yards and a touchdown on his way to 27.5 DKFP in his most recent sim against the Vikings to raise his average to 18.0 DKFP per sim on 83.2 rushing yards and 17.2 receiving yards per contest along with a total of 32 touchdowns in 39 sims. He had a pedestrian (by his lofty standards) 13.4 DKFP against the Eagles in the teams’ first matchup and will be looking for more in this contest. Coleman has been significantly better at home than on the road and he makes a great option under $6K on this slate.

Other Option — Miles Sanders ($5,200), Tarik Cohen ($3,700)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Davante Adams, GB at TEN, $7,800 — Stacking your QB with his top WR can be a GPP strategy that pays off even though it does make your lineup slightly more boom-or-bust. If you roll with Rodgers or not, though, Adams is a play that makes sense since he is clearly the go-to option and typically rakes in huge volume for the Pack. He has scored 25 touchdowns in 39 sims and is averaging just under 80 yards per sim. Adams had four catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns for 33.2 DKFP in his first meeting with the Titans, and there’s no one in the Tennessee secondary that seems to be rated high enough to slow him down.

Other Options — Keenan Allen ($7,400), DeVante Parker ($6,300)

Value

Mike Williams, LAC at OAK, $4,500 — Williams has been incredibly involved in the Chargers’ very successful passing game. Even though he is the WR2, he has piled up 27 touchdowns in his 38 sims and is averaging 4.3 catches for over 70 yards per sim. He was very quiet against the Colts with just one catch in his most recent sim, but I think he’ll be in a good place to bounce back against the Raiders, who have been beatable all sim season through the air and allowed Williams to score a touchdown in the teams’ first meeting.

Zay Jones, OAK vs. LAC, $3,000 — Jones is available at the minimum salary despite posting 55.0, 23.4 and 22.7 DKFP in his three most recent sims. He went off for that huge game against the Browns and has followed up with success against the Bucs and Panthers. Jones is the WR2 but has big-time upside and has also raised his average to 13.3 DKFP over his 39 sims with 3.7 catches for 56.6 yards per sim. The Raiders struggle to run the ball and the team’s defensive lapses have often led to the Raiders playing from behind in these sims. If that’s the case again in this matchup, Jones could be in for enough volume to continue producing big numbers.

Other Options — Deebo Samuel ($4,100), Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($3,100)

Tight End

Stud

George Kittle, SF vs. PHI, $5,800 — Kittle goes head-to-head with Zach Ertz ($5,700) in the final matchup of the day. Kittle has fewer touchdowns and receptions than Ertz but averages about 10 more yards per sim. He has averaged 5.1 catches for 72.9 yards per sim but has only scored 14 touchdowns. Coleman has scored so many of the 49ers’ touchdowns and Kendrick Bourne ($3,300) has also vultured lots of red-zone work. Kittle is still my pick, though, mostly due to matchup. While the 49ers have a very solid group of LB in coverage, the Eagles have struggled to cover elite TE like Kittle. In fact, he went off for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches for 42.3 DKFP in the teams’ first meeting. He’s a slightly better play than Ertz, but both have great upside.

Other Options — Zach Ertz ($5,700), Evan Engram ($5,500)

Value

Benjamin Watson, NE vs. CHI, $4,100 — Watson has been one of the biggest surprises of these sims and remains extremely affordable despite his 15.1 DKFP per sim average. He has more catches than Kittle and just one fewer than Ertz while scoring 15 touchdowns and averaging over 65 yards per sim. He had 21.0 DKFP against the Steelers in his most recent outing and has over 15 DKFP in four of his past five games. He has double-digit DKFP in 28 of his 39 sims (72%), showing just how reliable the now-retired veteran is in these contests. He also has a high ceiling, though, and is one of the best plays at around $4K at any position, making him a solid flex option if you decide to go with Kittle, Ertz or another elite TE.

Other Options — Eric Ebron ($5,000), Darren Waller ($4,800)

DST

Stud

Packers DST at TEN, $2,900 — Without any of the elite ball-hawking defenses on this slate, the Packers lead the way with a 5.8 DKFP per sim average. Green Bay has consistently gotten to the quarterback, piling up 96 sacks in 39 contests to go with 22 takeaways and five defensive touchdowns. The Packers have been even better on the road, averaging 6.1 DKFP per away game. The team’s defense had 8.0 DKFP in a strong performance against the Titans in the teams’ first meeting and should be set for success again on this slate.

Other Options — Falcons ($3,100), Chargers ($3,000)

Value

49ers DST vs. PHI, $2,500 — The 49ers have been one of the best teams in theses sims at limiting opponents’ scoring, but it hasn’t always translated to fantasy success since San Francisco doesn’t get quite as many splash plays. The Niners have 15 takeaways and 64 sacks in 39 games, which have helped them produce 4.2 DKFP per contest. They get a decent matchup against Philly since the Eagles have struggled to find an offensive groove at times. I don’t expect the 49ers to give up many points, so San Francisco is low-risk, but I also don’t know if the unit will make the big plays to put up a monster fantasy day.

Other Options — Patriots ($2,700), Bears ($2,200)
