With the MLB regular season still a week away, we don’t have to wait any longer for some professional baseball and - most importantly - baseball DFS. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) is underway and DraftKings is welcoming the KBO into the fold with contests for big prizes. On Friday morning, the action gets underway at 5:30 a.m. ET.

PITCHER

Stud

Mike Wright, NCD vs. KTW, $9,500 - Of the two expensive options on Friday’s slate, I feel a bit more comfortable with Wright. Even though he doesn’t have the same upside as Aaron Brooks ($9,800), I am wary of Brooks’ matchup against the Bears. Since the Dinos are -230 favorites, Wright seems a bit more likely to come away with a win. He averages 13 DKFP for the season and has allowed three or less runs in seven of his last eight starts.

Chae Heung Choi, SAM vs. LOT, $7,800 - Choi either pitchers really well or really poorly. There is typically nothing in the middle for him. On the positive side, he has been good more than he’s been bad. In 10 starts this season, Choi has scored 15 or DKFP seven times and scored 1.0 DKFP or less in the other three outings. Since the cheaper pitching options are fairly weak on Friday, rolling the dice on a risky pitcher with upside like Choi makes sense in tournaments.

CATCHER

Eu Ji Yang, NCD vs. KTW, $5,600 - It looks like Yang is starting to swing the bat well again. On Thursday, he homered, recorded 29 DKFP and reached base in all of his plate appearances. This was the first time he scored over 20 DKFP in July. It’s also encouraging that Yang now has multiple hits in three of his last four starts.

Value

Min Sik Kim, KIA vs. DOO, $2,800 - Going forward, it’s tough to know what to make of Kim. He made his season debut earlier in the week and has been great for the Tigers thus far. He’s averaging 8.5 DKFP and has a .455 batting average. While this type of production certainly won’t continue, we rarely get much production from cheap catchers, so just the chance that Kim is a decent hitter makes him worth rostering at this price.

FIRST BASE

Ja Wook Koo, SAM vs. LOT, $4,500 - Koo has been terrific in July. He has multiple hits in six of his last seven games, bring his wRC+ up to 146 for the season. Not only is Koo’s .553 slugging the best of his career, he’s also on pace for a career-high in stolen bases. He’s swiped seven bags in 39 games. The combination of power and speed is making Koo a great fantasy asset.

Value

Dae Ho Lee, LOT at SAM, $3,900 - One of the best hitters in the history of the KBO, Lee continues to produce results at 38-years-old. He has a 130 wRC+ and his price never moves much. We can also roster him as a value first baseman in the upper $3K range. Lee comes into Friday’s slate on a seven-game hitting streak.

SECOND BASE

Stud

Jose Fernandez, DOO at KIA, $5,700 - As usual, Fernandez is coming off a multi-hit game. He’s easily been the most consistent player at the second base position and there aren’t many times we can roster him at under $6,000. His current salary is the cheapest Fernandez has been in nearly a month and it’s not like he’s been struggling lately. Fernandez has scored at least 8.0 DKFP in seven of his last eight games.

Value

Hoon Jung, LOT at SAM, $3,600 - Jung remains underpriced. This has been the case for the past month or so. Jung has reached base in 20 consecutive games, which has oddly led to his salary becoming cheaper. Jung now averages 9.5 DKFP, making him the second-best fantasy producer among all second basemen. Despite this, he’s the 12th-most expensive player at the position.

THIRD BASE

Stud

Jae Gyun Hwang, KTW at NCD, $5,400 - Hwang has struggled to stay healthy this season. When in the lineup consistently, we usually start to see good results from him. This has been the case lately and Hwang has scored double-digit DKFP in four consecutive games. The former San Francisco Giant has been the best fantasy third baseman in the KBO this season.

Value

Kyoung Min Hur, DOO at KIA, $4,300 - Hur is always a bit cheaper than he should be. In my opinion, he should be priced around Hwang on every slate. Hur averages 9.0 DKFP, which is the third most of any player at the position. He’s also riding a 12-game hitting streak and has scored at least 5.0 DKFP in all of those games. 3

SHORTSTOP

Stud

Jeong Choi, SK vs. KIW, $5,400 - Choi was recently activated from the injured list due to pelvis injury and he’s looked as good as ever since returning. There doesn’t appear to be any reason to worry about lingering effects of the injury since he’s homered in two of his last three games, averaging 21.3 DKFP over this stretch. Given how well Choi is playing, perhaps the time off was a positive for him.

Value

Ji Hwan Oh, LG vs. HAN, $3,400 - Oh has a put together a nice four-game hitting streak and is averaging 13.3 DKFP during his streak. Given his matchup, there’s a good chance he will be able to extend his hitting streak on Friday. Jin Wook Kim ($5,200) is on the mound for the Eagles and the inexperienced pitcher didn’t look great in his first start of the season. He gave up a pair of homers and allowed nine base runners in 4 and one third innings.

OUTFIELD

Stud

Mel Rojas Jr., KTW at NCD, $6,100 - If you can only spend up for one player on this slate, Rojas would have to be the guy. In fairness, this could be said for just about every slate. Rojas has been the best hitter in the KBO from both a fantasy and actual baseball perspective. He has a 196 wRC+ and averages 12.2 DKFP. Of course, he also leads the league in homers and has scored at least 11 DKFP in six of his last seven games.

Value

Hyung Jong Lee, LG vs. HAN, $3,500 - The veteran outfielder made his season debut earlier in the week. The reason Lee missed the start of the season was because of a hand injury. So far, he’s looked good, averaging 9.4 DKFP while picking up a hit in all of his starts. Considering Lee had a 120 wRC+ last season, we can assume he’s going to be a solid hitter going forward and his price tag is too cheap.
