Muirfield Village Golf Club has been the center of attention on the PGA TOUR over the last couple of weeks, especially with the playoff finish last week. However, with all due respect to the course, Jack Nicklaus, Brooks, Bryson and Rory - Tiger is back, baby. This marks his first time back on the PGA TOUR since The Genesis Invitational back in February with many circling the Memorial for his return. The pundits, prognosticators and analysts like myself have discussed, ad nauseam, all predictions referring to Tiger Woods. His odds (+2500) and DraftKings price ($9,000) makes him even more “popular” this week, but if you don’t like either number, there are “Tiger Specials” on DraftKings Sportsbook you can take. This isn’t a Major week, but sure feels like one. The strength of the field, the pre-tournament buzz and, well, The Open Championship was initially scheduled this week before it was canceled due to COVID-19.
Here are some bets you should consider for Tiger Woods this week. Place your bets here at the DraftKings Sportsbook Tiger Specials page.
Hit his starting fairway in regulation in Round 1: Yes -225
The first hole is a long par 4 measuring 470 yards but didn’t play tough last week, ranking as the 12th handicap and averaging an under-par score for the tournament. It’s a dogleg right from an elevated tee that leads into a wide fairway, fitting Tiger’s fade very nicely; you’re laying a sizable amount of juice with taking the “yes.” Still, Tiger’s Off-the-Tee game looked superb during the Match back in May, and he will want to get off to an excellent start with a relatively straightforward approach shot into the green. Woods has done well hitting the fairways at Muirfield, recording positive fairways gained numbers in four of his last five starts here.
Hole out a shot from off the Green in Tournament: Yes +180
There were 82 hole-outs at the Memorial Tournament last year, marking the second-most total Hole Outs at Muirfield Village GC in the Shotlink Era. With smaller greens, Tiger may be faced with a few more shots Around-the-Green than usual. He knows his way around this course and gained a total of 5.4 strokes Around-the-Green in his previous two starts at Memorial.
To Make an Eagle in the Tournament: Yes +110
The Workday Charity Open recorded the second-most eagles on the PGA TOUR last week (52), and the Big Cat ranks 23rd in eagles gained over his previous 50 rounds on all courses. Over his last 12 rounds at Muirfield Village, Woods still ranks inside the top 25 in eagles gained, making this one of the better props on the entire board with four par 5s in each round.
