Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for December 4

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Friday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

You can start your fantasy football weekend early with a great Friday night slate of Madden sims on the DraftKings Dream Stream. The featured three-game classic slate gets underway at 6:00 p.m. ET with a fun matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks. In primetime at 8:00 p.m. ET, the New England Patriots head to virtual Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions, and we close out the night with a Madden After Dark matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Titans. The Packers beat the Titans, 24-17, in an earlier Madden meeting, but the other two matchups will be happening for the first time in Madden 21.

A key factor to consider is that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries or illness and the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers, $8,000 — The Seahawks’ offense is centered on Wilson and the dual-threat QB is always a threat to go off for a big game. He has over 27 DKFP in four of his past five sims and put up 33.68 DKFP in his most recent contest despite only throwing for 117 yards and a touchdown. In that contest, he did most of his work on the ground, running for exactly 100 yards and two touchdowns against the Bills. In his 25 sims in Madden 21, he has averaged 72.1 rushing yards per contest and hit that 100-yard mark five times in his nine most recent sims. He has thrown 40 touchdowns and run for 14 more while producing an average of 24.7 DKFP per contest. The Panthers’ defense is very young and definitely has missed the retired Luke Kuechly, so Russ should be able to cook either on the ground or through the air in this matchup. He is poised to be the best QB play to go with if you have the salary flexibility to pay up at the position.

Other Option — Aaron Rodgers ($6,800)

Cam Newton, New England Patriots at Detroit Lions, $6,200 — Newton doesn’t take off and run nearly as much as Wilson in these sims, but he does have the ability to add rushing touchdowns with nine in his 27 sims so far in Madden 21. He has thrown for 33 touchdowns and averaged 218.3 passing yards per contest, and is in a great matchup against the Lions. Cam has put up over 22 DKFP in two of his past four contests, including 22.64 DKFP in his most recent sim against the Saints in a game with three passing touchdowns. If he is able to get that amount of production in this matchup, he’ll be a nice play at just over $6K and leave you more salary flexibility than rolling with Russell.

Other Option — Teddy Bridgewater ($5,700)

Running Back

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans, $6,900 — Plugging in Derrick Henry ($9,000) even as the most expensive option is usually a sound strategy due to his volume and consistently outstanding production. While King Henry still makes a lot of sense even against the Packers’ strong run defense, make sure not to overlook Jones on the other side of the matchup. When these two teams met just a few sims ago, Henry had a solid 20.9 DKFP, but it was Jones who went off with three touchdowns, 164 yards and 37.4 DKFP. He will look to take advantage of the same matchup again and also saves you over $2K in salary to spend elsewhere—that’s more than the difference between Newton and Wilson. If you can afford Henry, go for it, but you may be able to pivot to Jones and use that salary to spend more wisely at other roster spots. Jones’ big game wasn’t just a fluke, as he has been very solid throughout these sims as the Packers’ workhorse RB. He is averaging 74.0 rushing yards along with 2.9 catches for 20.7 receiving yards per sim. He has piled up 27 touchdowns in his 26 sims and posted over 15 DKFP in five straight games. His ceiling is extremely high as well with over 30 DKFP in three of his past 12 games dating back to that contest against the Titans.

Other Option — Derrick Henry ($9,000), Christian McCaffrey ($7,700)

D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots, $4,200 — Both teams in the primetime contest use timeshares in the backfield, so Swift and James White ($4,400) are worth considering as third-down backs who could get solid PPR production. Since I think the Lions will be the team more likely to be playing from behind, I’m leaning towards Swift, who shares time in the backfield but usually gets a few catches each game. He has multiple catches in seven of his past eight contests and has produced over 5.0 DKFP in 18 of his past 21 sims. He showed some upside too with 17.0 DKFP against the Jags two sims ago and 19.2 DKFP a few sims before that against the Dolphins. Even if he doesn’t reach that ceiling, he should be a solid and involved value play against the Patriots.

Other Options — Sony Michel ($5,600), James White ($4,400)

Wide Receiver

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers, $6,400 — Metcalf hasn’t been quite as consistent in these sims as he has been in real life, but he still has huge upside against a so-so Panthers secondary. Metcalf has at least four catches in three straight games and has at least 40 yards in eight of his past 11 contests. He has four touchdowns during that span, giving him nine in his 24 Madden 21 sims. He has the raw tools to have a huge game if Wilson gets him the ball in good spots, which he should be able to do against Carolina.

Other Options — Davante Adams ($6,500), DJ Moore ($5,300)

Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans vs. Green Bay Packers, $5,200 — Like Metcalf, Davis is the WR2 on his team but has been the better fantasy option lately. He has at least four catches in four of his past five games with over 65 yards in each of those contests and an average of 12.0 DKFP over that stretch. Davis had five catches for 72 yards, a touchdown and 17.9 DKFP against the Packers in their first meeting, and he should be in a solid spot to perform to a similar level even though he does come with some bust potential.

Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots, $3,800 — Amendola will go up against his former team in this matchup and usually gets involved enough out of the slot to be a very good value play. He has at least three catches in six of his past eight games with three games over 100 yards and 17 DKFP in that span. He almost always has multiple catches, so even his down games aren’t total busts. He is a volatile play but comes with lots of upside, especially if the Patriots focus their defense elsewhere, putting Stephon Gilmore on Kenny Golladay ($5,400) and Marvin Jones Jr. ($4,300) and forcing Matthew Stafford ($5,500) to focus on other options like Swift, Amendola, and the TE highlighted below.

Other Options — Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($4,500), Damiere Byrd ($3,600)

Tight End

T.J. Hockenson, Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots, $5,400 — Hockenson has been one of the top TEs in all of Madden and has been getting great volume from Stafford. He is averaging over 5.0 catches per contest and coming off an eight-catch, 105-yard game which produced 21.5 DKFP against the Chiefs. He has over 20 DKFP in four of his past five games, and the Patriots have been beatable by high-volume TEs in these sims. Hockenson should be well set up for another big game against New England.

Other Options — Greg Olsen ($4,600), Jonnu Smith ($4,300)

Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks, $3,500 — Thomas has multiple catches in a dozen straight games and has been much more involved in the offense in Madden than in real life. He has only scored five touchdowns in his Madden 21 sims but does usually post decent totals with at least 6.0 DKFP in eight of his past nine. If he gets to that level of production again, he’ll be a solid play at only $3.5K. For a flex spot, he doesn’t have the upside Amendola brings at a similar salary, but he is a little more reliable.

Other Option — Devin Asiasi ($4,100)

Seahawks DST at Carolina Panthers, $3,100 — As expected once they added Jamal Adams to an already-impressive defense, the Seahawks have been fumble-making machines in these sims, recovering 27 fumbles in 25 sims while adding three interceptions, 51 sacks and five defensive touchdowns to average 7.0 DKFP per contest. They have at least 5.0 DKFP in three of their past four contests and have a high ceiling against Carolina. They will likely be a popular play, but their turnover-creating potential is unmatched in Madden.

Packers DST at Tennessee Titans, $2,700 — The Packers have a strong run defense, a good pass rush and an elite cover-CB in Madden 21, and they have been a strong unit as a result. They were able to somewhat contain Henry in their earlier matchup against the Titans and finished with 2.0 DKFP in that matchup. In their recent games, they have been doing even better, with at least 6.0 DKFP in five of their past eight games including each of their two most recent contests. They haven’t been as high-scoring as the Seahawks but actually have out-produced them in every defensive category except fumble recoveries and defensive touchdowns.
