Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for December 14

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Monday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 12:00 p.m. ET.

After taking a day off Sunday, the Madden Holiday Season continues on the DraftKings Dream Stream with three more matchups on tap as teams continue playing their second of three games in the divisional round. Make sure to check out the standings and the stat leaders along with the bonus offer each day on the main Holiday Season page.

The three-game slate kicks off at 12 p.m. ET with an AFC South matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts. Since both teams won their first game, a win will almost assure a trip to the next round. After that matchup, we’ll head to the AFC West for the final two games of the day, featuring the Denver Broncos hosting the Kansas City Chiefs at 2 p.m. ET followed by the Los Angeles Chargers visiting the Las Vegas Raiders at 4 p.m. ET. The Chiefs and Broncos won the first two games in this division, so the winner of that first contest is in a great place to advance while the loser of Chargers-Raiders will be pushed to the brink of elimination.

As usual, remember that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, $7,900 — Mahomes had a very down game for him against the Chargers to start the Holiday Season, throwing just one touchdown on his way to 15.3 DKFP. In his 31 sims in Madden 21, he has thrown 71 touchdowns while adding nine more on the ground. He is also averaging 285.4 passing yards per game and is the only QB with a perfect 99 rating. He produced over 21 DKFP in seven of his previous nine games and should be all set to bounce back against the Broncos, who he tore up for 35.48 DKFP the only other time he faced them in the Madden 21 sims. Even his “down” games aren’t awful, and he comes with a high enough ceiling that he has to be a consideration even though his salary is almost $8K.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders, $6,300 — In the first game of the Holiday Season, Herbert struggled against Mahomes and the Chiefs, producing just 7.96 DKFP and throwing a pair of interceptions. Before that game, the rookie had been on a nice roll with over 17 DKFP in four straight including 27.76 DKFP against Dallas. He had three touchdowns and 20.9 DKFP the first time he faced the Raiders, who were just torn up by Drew Lock ($5,500) in their season opener. Vegas’s secondary and pass rush should allow Herbert plenty of opportunities, and his strong group of pass-catchers should help him bounce back in a big way. He’s significantly more affordable than Mahomes due to some inconsistency, but he does have a very nice ceiling for a QB option barely over $6K.

Other Options — Gardner Minshew II ($6,100), Drew Lock ($5,500)

Running Back

Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, $6,900 — Even though he shares work in the backfield with Marlon Mack ($4,200) in these sims, Hines has proven he can still produce great numbers as the third-down back. He has found the end zone in each of his past four games either as a rusher or receiver and has averaged 19.2 DKFP over that stretch. He finished with over 100 rushing yards in his most recent sim and added five catches to help him get to 27.2 DKFP. In his 26 sims, he is averaging 4.3 catches for 32.0 yards per sim while adding 38.2 rushing yards per game as well. He had 22.4 DKFP with a pair of rushing touchdowns in his most recent sim against the Jaguars, and as long as he gets the work in this rematch he should be a solid play under $7K. He comes with a little more risk since he doesn’t have the full-time job, but his upside makes it worth looking past that and rostering him in this favorable matchup.

Other Options — Austin Ekeler ($7,400), Chris Thompson ($6,400)

Jalen Richard, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers, $4,400 — Richard had a huge game against the Broncos in his Holiday Season opener. He caught seven passes for 58 yards and a touchdown on his way to 18.7 DKFP. Richard has been regularly putting up good numbers recently, even though he doesn’t always reach that ceiling. He has multiple catches in five straight games with over 9.0 DKFP in three of those contests. Even though he shares work with RB1 Josh Jacobs ($4,800), Richard is a great PPR option and comes at a very affordable price for this matchup with the Chargers.

Other Option — Phillip Lindsay ($5,100), Melvin Gordon III ($3,900)

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, $7,800 — Hill has piled up an astounding 199 catches over his 31 sims in Madden 21 for an average of 6.4 catches per contest. He has at least seven catches in three straight sims after hauling in eight passes for 106 yards and 22.0 DKFP in his Holiday Season opener against the Chargers. Hill gets great volume, but his main fantasy asset is his perfect 99 speed rating, which makes him a RAC monster. He has averaged 91.7 yards per sim but has over 100 in each of his past three games, highlighted by a 214-yard performance against the Eagles that netted him 43.4 DKFP. He has that kind of ceiling once again as he faces the Broncos in this contest. He had nine catches, 83 yards, a touchdown and 23.3 DKFP in his first matchup against Denver’s secondary and will be looking for another big game in the rematch in the Mile High City.

Other Options — T.Y. Hilton ($6,300), D.J. Chark Jr. ($6,100)

Dede Westbrook, Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts, $5,100 — In real life, Westbrook is on IR and had fallen out of favor even before his season-ending injury. In these sims, though, Westbrook has been a very productive WR2 for Jacksonville and has posted over 15 DKFP in three of his past four sims. He had 10 catches for 148 yards and 27.8 DKFP in his most recent contest and has found the end zone in four of his past seven contests as well. Westbrook’s next catch will give him 100 in his Madden 21 sims, and he is averaging 3.7 catches for 48.0 yards per contest in his 27 contests. He outperformed those averages in his first meeting with the Colts and should be in a good matchup to go after in this contest.

Demarcus Robinson, Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, $3,400 — Robinson’s role as the Chiefs’ WR3 results in some inconsistent stretches, but he still comes with good upside for such an affordable play. Robinson got off to a slow start in the Holiday Season with just two catches and 4.8 DKFP against the Chargers, but he is averaging 2.7 catches for 39.0 yards per sim while scoring five touchdowns and producing 7.8 DKFP per game. Four of his five scores have come on the road, where he is averaging 9.4 DKFP per sim. He can definitely be boom or bust depending on his level of involvement, but he has good upside against the Broncos, who he beat for five catches, 67 yards and 11.7 DKFP in their first meeting.

Other Options — Henry Ruggs III ($4,800), Chris Conley ($4,200), Parris Campbell ($3,500)

Tight End

Travis Kelce, Kanas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, $6,600 — While there are some other good TE plays on this slate, Kelce has been the top play if you can creatively work your salary cap to fit all three Chiefs superstars. He has over 21 DKFP in five of his past seven games and has scored 20 touchdowns in 31 sims, including seven scores over his past seven games. Kelce also had a touchdown in his first game against the Broncos and finished with 18.4 DKFP. Like his teammate Hill, Kelce has been getting great volume from Mahomes, averaging 6.1 catches per contest for 75.5 receiving yards per game.

Other Options — Darren Waller ($5,700), Trey Burton ($4,900)

Hunter Henry, Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders, $4,100 — Henry is the cheapest starting TE on this slate, but he gets a great matchup against the Raiders, who were just demolished by Noah Fant ($4,300) for 33.7 DKFP in their most recent contest. Henry has at least three catches in five straight sims, averaging 5.2 catches for 45.6 yards and 12.1 DKFP over that stretch. He doesn’t get the volume of Kelce or Waller in every game, but he has been one of Herbert’s go-to options in the red zone, making him a solid play with upside if you pivot off of Kelce or go with a TE in your flex spot.

Other Option — Noah Fant ($4,300)

Chargers DST at Las Vegas Raiders, $3,100 — The Chargers’ defense has been hot lately in these sims with at least three sacks in six straight contests and a very strong effort in their most recent game against the Chiefs. They limited Mahomes and Co. to only 17 points and finished with 8.0 DKFP with a pair of takeaways and three sacks. They had an even better game with a defensive TD in their previous sim against the Falcons, totaling 23.0 DKFP in that contest. They have 72 sacks in 29 sims and have forced 22 turnovers. They have a good matchup and plenty of playmakers to rely on as they visit Vegas.

Jaguars DST at Indianapolis Colts, $2,700 — The Jaguars’ defense has been an opportunistic unit so far in these Madden sims with 47 sacks and 11 takeaways in 27 sims. They had three sacks and 4.0 DKFP in their previous win against the Colts and will look to get pressure on Philip Rivers ($5,800) and force the veteran QB into making costly mistakes. They don’t have the playmakers of the top units like the Chargers, but they have been consistent contributors and come at an affordable price point.
