Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for December 11

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Friday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

As we head into a fantastic Friday of Madden sims on the DraftKings Dream Stream, the Madden Holiday Season continues with six more divisional round matchups. Make sure to check out the standings and the stat leaders along with the special offers each day on the main Holiday Season page. In Friday’s offer, each entry in the $15K Holiday Season Special will get 500 crowns if Michael Thomas ($6,400) gets into the end zone against the Carolina Panthers in the 6 p.m. ET sim. There’s also a $5K first place prize in that contest, so make sure to get your $10 entry in.

Friday night’s featured slate starts with Thomas’ New Orleans Saints hosting their former QB, Teddy Bridgewater ($5,200) and the Carolina Panthers at 6 p.m. ET. The primetime matchup should be another great game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons, who were the surprise winners of the preseason Madden tournament played with a similar setup. The final matchup of the day on “Madden After Dark” is the first matchup from the NFC West, as the Seattle Seahawks welcome in the San Francisco 49ers.

As usual, remember that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, $7,600 — Russ has been cooking in these sims, producing 25.3 DKFP per contest as a dual-threat option with a heavy workload in Seattle’s offense. Wilson has averaged 186.7 passing yards and an impressive 74.5 rushing yards per sim while totaling 43 passing touchdowns and 15 rushing scores in 26 games. He has rushed for 100 yards or more in three of his past four games and has over 29 DKFP in each of those contests. In his most recent sim, he roared to 40.9 DKFP against the Lions with 165 passing yards with three touchdowns and 133 rushing yards with a fourth touchdown on the ground. He has had some down games, but even in those contests his rushing yards typically keep him from being a total bust. He and the Seahawks have faced the 49ers twice in the Madden 21 sims, and Wilson has 25.12 DKFP and 21.1 DKFP in a pair of one-score victories for Seattle. Wilson is a solid play at home worth paying up for, even though San Francisco is a tough defense.

Other Option — Matt Ryan ($6,600)

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers, $5,900 — Brees doesn’t bring the super-high ceiling that comes with Wilson since he doesn’t rush much at all, but he does offer substantial salary relief and still comes with good upside in a favorable matchup against Carolina’s questionable secondary. Brees had a rough patch in the middle of our Madden 21 sims which drove his salary way down, but he has bounced back with strong showings recently. He had over 16 DKFP in four straight sims before a tough game against Washington in his most recent contest. He only had 11.86 DKFP in that game but was still able to get the Saints the win. Brees has totaled 45 passing touchdowns in 29 sims with just three interceptions. He has a good group of pass-catchers to work with and should be able to find holes against the Panthers’ defense that is still hurting in Madden 21 from the loss of Luke Kuechly, who was a 99 overall player in Madden 2020 and made them an elite unit. Brees is averaging 263.8 passing yards per game, so the yards should be there against Carolina. The variable is whether he throws the touchdowns or Alvin Kamara ($6,700) gets the rushing touchdowns.

Other Option — Tom Brady ($6,100)

Running Back

Raheem Mostert, San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, $7,500 — Mostert has been a touchdown machine in these Madden 21 sims, scoring 31 times in his 27 sims in Madden 21. He is the every-down back for the run-heavy 49ers and has a very high ceiling along with little risk of a total bust. Mostert had a pair of scores against the Rams in his most recent sim on Tuesday and finished with 29.9 DKFP. He has produced over 21 DKFP in four of his past seven games with 11 touchdowns over that span. Only two times in 27 sims has he been held under 12 DKFP, so it’s very unlikely he won’t bring back solid returns against Seattle. The Seahawks force a lot of turnovers and can be a good DST play, but they have also given up plenty of points and yards in many of their matchups in Madden 21. Mostert had 22.6 DKFP in his most recent matchup against them and will be lined up for heavy volume again in this matchup.

Other Options — Christian McCaffrey ($7,300), Alvin Kamara ($6,700)

LeSean McCoy, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $4,400 — Much like the main slate on Thursday, most of the teams on this slate lean heavily on a workhorse RB, so there aren’t many timeshares to target for value plays. The main exception to that pattern of the six teams in action is the Bucs, who use McCoy in passing situations as their third-down back while Leonard Fournette ($5,000) gets the early-down and power-back work. McCoy has been fairly involved throughout these sims as a pass-catcher out of the backfield, averaging 3.32 catches for 22.0 yards per contest and adding on 16.8 yards on the ground. In his most recent sim, he scored his second rushing touchdown of the Madden 21 sims and finished with an impressive 15.1 DKFP. He has at least 7.0 DKFP in five straight sims, averaging 10.0 DKFP over that run. He had multiple catches in each of his first two sims against the Falcons, finishing with 4.8 DKFP and 6.7 DKFP. He is an excellent way to save salary at one of your RB spots but still get some production in addition to having extra salary to go after top players at other roster spots.

Other Option — Chris Carson ($5,500)

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $6,700 — While everyone will be hoping for a Michael Thomas ($6,400) touchdown for the extra crowns in play, I actually prefer Jones as a fantasy option if you’re going with an elite WR. He gets a great matchup against the Bucs’ secondary that has given up big plays throughout Madden 21, and he should be able to put together a big game in this matchup. Jones has actually slightly out-produced Thomas so far in Madden 21, averaging 18.5 DKFP per contest on 5.0 catches for 84.2 yards per game. Julio has gotten into the end zone in four straight sims and has totaled 19 touchdowns in his 29 sims in Madden 21. He started his Madden 21 sims with 103 yards, a touchdown and 23.3 DKFP against Tampa Bay and will look to put up a similar stat line in this rematch.

Other Options — Michael Thomas ($6,400), DK Metcalf ($6,100)

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $5,600 — Evans had a pair of touchdowns and 28.4 DKFP in his most recent sim against the 49ers. He has been the Bucs’ WR1 in Madden 21 but has not been quite as consistent as some of the other top options since Tom Brady ($6,100) seems to lock in on one mismatch and feed that receiver whether it’s Evans, Chris Godwin ($5,400), Rob Gronkowski ($4,800) or even Scotty Miller ($3,500). That has resulted in uneven production for all those pass-catchers but also gives them a high ceiling if they get all the volume. Evans has averaged 4.4 catches for 58.0 yards per sim, and he has at least three catches in six of his past seven games dating back to a nine-catch, 28.9-DKFP highlight against the Jets. Evans went off for nine catches in his most recent matchup against Atlanta as well for a massive 200 yards and 38.0 DKFP, so the potential is there for a huge game against the Falcons’ secondary.

Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $3,800 — Gage is a great play under $4K since he gets good volume even with Jones and Calvin Ridley ($5,200) ahead of him on the depth chart. Gage has at least three catches in four straight sims, highlighted by seven catches for 57 yards, a touchdown and 18.7 DKFP against the Jaguars. He also had a touchdown with five catches, 41 yards and 15.1 DKFP in his most recent game against the Bucs, so there should be room for him to work out of the slot and deliver good value at under $4K.

Other Options — DJ Moore ($5,100), Curtis Samuel ($4,900), Kendrick Bourne ($4,500), Scotty Miller ($3,500)

Tight End

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, $5,000 — While Kittle can sometimes struggle if the 49ers go too run-heavy and throw the ball only rarely, he has had a pair of great games against the Seahawks in Madden 21 and is the highest-rated TE in all of Madden with a 98 overall rating. Kittle is coming off a down game against the Rams, but he had 128 yards, a touchdown and 26.8 DKFP in his first game against Seattle and followed that with seven catches, 101 yards and 20.1 DKFP in the rematch. If he gets near those numbers again, he’ll be a solid $5K investment since it seems that Seattle doesn’t have anyone who can cover him over the middle of the field.

Other Option — Jared Cook ($4,500)

Greg Olsen, Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, $3,900 — If you’re planning on playing a pair of TEs (using a flex spot) or don't have enough salary to afford Kittle, Olsen makes a solid play under $4K. Olsen has multiple catches in 23 of his 26 sims, averaging 4.1 catches for 42.1 yards per contest. Six of his nine touchdowns have come at home, where he has averaged 10.6 DKFP per sim. He didn’t score in either of his earlier meetings with the 49ers but did have five catches for 49 yards followed by seven catches for 82 yards. He gets enough volume to produce PPR production worth considering under $4K and has a strong connection with virtual Russell Wilson in simland.

Other Option — Hayden Hurst ($4,200)

Seahawks DST vs. San Francisco 49ers, $3,100 — The Seahawks have recovered 27 fumbles in 26 sims thanks to the hard-hitting duo of Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams. They have also had four interceptions along with 53 sacks and five defensive touchdowns. Four of those five defensive scores have come in their home games, and they have produced an average of 7.1 DKFP at home over their 16 sims in Seattle. They have the highest ceiling of any DST in Madden since they make so many big plays despite the fact that they usually give up a good amount of yards and points.

Saints DST vs. Carolina Panthers, $2,700 — The Saints have 49 sacks in 29 games while forcing 10 turnovers. They have only scored one defensive touchdown in Madden 21 but have averaged 4.9 DKFP over their past nine sims including a pair of performances with double-digit DKFP. They have at least three sacks in four of their past five games and had three sacks and 7.0 DKFP in their first matchup with the Panthers.
