Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Chargers
ATL Moneyline (-125)
Since that awful home loss to the Lions — which the Falcons literally had won until Todd Gurley went against orders and scored what became a game-losing touchdown — Atlanta’s actually been playing pretty well. The Falcons are 3-2 with both losses coming to the Saints, who have the inside track on the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Last week’s loss came right down to the wire, as well, as the Falcons were driving with a chance to win the game. The defense is much improved since the coaching change, and Matt Ryan is due for a bounce-back against a soft defense. The absence of Julio Jones shrunk this spread down to 1.5, so I’m just pivoting to the moneyline. The Chargers have a coaching mismatch every single week, and this game will be no different. We’ve now seen the Patriots get destroyed by the Rams on TNF, so how much worse does last Sunday’s 45-0 shutout at the hands of the Pats look now?
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills
BUF Moneyline (-122)
The perfect season is over for the Steelers. Injuries and schedule are finally catching up to them, and I think it could lead to this team limping to the finish line with a record around 13-3. After beating a shell of the Ravens in a Wednesday afternoon game, Pittsburgh had an odd Monday afternoon against Washington, blowing a big lead for its first loss of the season. While the Steelers finally play on a Sunday again, it’s still another short week — and remember, this team never even got a bye. Its game against Tennessee was postponed, but the team practiced all week in preparation for it. Meanwhile, the Bills continue to take down nearly every test put in front of them. This is kind of a fishy line with the public perception being the Steelers are the much better team. I’ll roll with Buffalo at home.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
BAL Moneyline (-127)
The red-hot 9-3 Browns are coming off a huge victory over the Titans, blowing them out in the first half. While the 7-5 Ravens got a nice bounce-back win over the Cowboys, this is a huge game for them on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Again, with Baltimore moving from a one to 2.5-point favorite on the road, this line kind of stinks. The Browns have been the better team this season, but the Ravens still might be the better team when it’s all said and done. Cleveland will want to run the ball, which Baltimore should be able to limit. Remember, the Ravens have dominated this matchup in recent seasons, including a 38-6 win back in Week 1. I think the more desperate team — the team that we expected to be the more talented team all along — gets this one done.
