Houston Texans at Detroit Lions
Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys
7-point teaser: DET +10/WAS +10 (-159)
I like Detroit and Washington outright on Thanksgiving, but these are some messy games. I’d prefer to play it safe and tease these all the way up to 10.
The Texans have a great QB, but are being overvalued here off of a home win over the Patriots. Beating the Patriots seems to still mean something in the betting market, and it shouldn’t. The Texans’ only two other wins are over the Jags, so being a road favorite is pretty odd. The Lions aren’t at full strength, but should be able to keep this one in single digits at home on a short week.
Washington annihilated Dallas in the first matchup of the season, although Andy Dalton didn’t play. Still, this line is inflated from a Cowboys’ win last week. The Vikings were trending in the right direction, but they’re still pretty bad. I’m not putting much weight in that. I think Washington’s defensive line dominates again and gets another win here as a road dog.
D’Andre Swift Rushing Yards: OVER 54.5 (-112)

Swift’s rushing prop was one of my favorite plays last week before we even saw the number, which never ended up happening. Swift was held out with a concussion, and never got to face an awful Carolina defense. Swift is questionable for Thanksgiving, but if he plays, he’ll shred Houston. The Texans allow an NFL-worst 159.3 rushing yards per game. Two weeks ago, they gave up 100-yard games to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt in the same contest. Earlier in the season, they surrendered 200-plus yards to Derrick Henry. Meanwhile, the Lions finally named Swift the starting back in Week 10 against Washington, and he made the most of it. The rookie was heavily involved, registering 81 yards on 16 carries.

With the third game getting knocked off, and some big names on the injury list in the two games we do have, it’s tough to lock too many bets. I do think Washington is being undervalued, and has the defense to beat Dallas outright. So that’s a potential play to add to the card. Of course, if Swift is out, his props are off the board. That could give us a depressed number on Adrian Peterson, which could be worth playing.
