Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for October 31

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Saturday three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 12:00 p.m. ET.

The DraftKings Dream Stream has a treat to start your Halloween off right with a three-game slate of Madden sims kicking at 12:00 p.m. ET. The action starts with the Denver Broncos hosting the Carolina Panthers followed by a rematch of one of the best games from Week 7 in the real world as the Atlanta Falcons host the Detroit Lions at 2:00 p.m. ET. Before the attention shifts to the DraftKings Halloween Candy Bowl this evening, the final matchup on the three-game slate features a rematch of a game that was simulated earlier this week as the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson ($7,900) host Deshaun Watson ($7,700) and the Houston Texans.

The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. The rosters have also been adjusted to get the best players on the field and will not be impacted by any COVID-19 opt-outs or injuries.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans, $7,900 — In the first meeting between these teams, Jackson was actually a little bit cheaper than his elite counterpart Deshaun Watson ($7,700), but Jackson stepped up and delivered 31.5 DKFP while Watson only managed 19.7 DKFP. While both QBs have very high ceilings, I’m again backing Jackson, mostly due to a much better matchup. The Houston defense has been very beatable throughout these sims both on the ground and through the air, but the Baltimore defense has been solid overall and especially against the run. Jackson threw three touchdowns in his first matchup against Houston and ran for 109 yards. He has reached the 100-yard rushing bonus in four straight sims and five of his past six. He has totaled 20 passing touchdowns and nine rushing touchdowns in his 17 sims while producing 23.9 DKFP on 154.0 passing yards and 90.9 rushing yards per sim. He remains in a place to go off in the rematch and is worth paying up for if you have the salary available.

Other Option — Deshaun Watson ($7,700), Matt Ryan ($6,600)

Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos, $6,400 — Bridgewater hasn’t been nearly the rushing threat of Watson or Jackson, but he has been a solid play from the more affordable end of the QB pool. He has over 18 DKFP in four of his past five games and threw three touchdowns on his way to 23.44 DFKP against the Bengals in his most recent sim. He has multiple touchdowns in nine of his 16 contests in Madden 21 and has thrown 28 touchdowns while averaging 223.1 passing yards per contest. Denver’s secondary has a couple of highly-rated players but lacks depth, so Bridgewater should be able to get favorable matchups for his speedy playmakers on the outside.

Other Option — Drew Lock ($5,900)

Running Back

Todd Gurley II, Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions, $7,000 — Gurley can’t help but score touchdowns against the Lions, as evidenced by his Week 7 touchdown that ultimately lost his team the game. He should be a good fantasy option in this matchup, though, since the Lions’ defense has struggled throughout their Madden 21 sims. Gurley has scored 16 touchdowns in his 20 contests in this version of Madden and is usually involved as both a rusher and a receiver. He is coming off a monster game against Miami in which he had five catches, two touchdowns, over 140 total yards and 31.4 DKFP. Gurley is averaging 3.8 catches for 34.8 yards per contest in addition to his 56.9 rushing yards per game. He should run wild in this matchup and has a very high ceiling if he gets touchdowns. When the Falcons faced the Lions earlier this sim season, Gurley ran for 94 yards and had three catches for 48 more yards and a touchdown to total 23.2 DKFP.

Other Option — Christian McCaffrey ($7,500), Phillip Lindsay ($5,500)

Duke Johnson, Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens, $3,900 — Duke Johnson serves as the Texans’ third-down back in Madden 21 and has been a great fantasy value play in many sims. In his 12 sims since taking over the third-down back role, he has scored five touchdowns and averaged 7.5 DKFP on 16.8 rushing yards and 13.7 receiving yards per contest. He had back-to-back games with over 20 DKFP against the Dolphins and Panthers before being held to just 4.0 DKFP against the Ravens earlier this week. Even though he’s still in that tough matchup against Baltimore, his upside from under $4K makes him a good way to save salary in the backfield.

Other Option — D’Andre Swift ($4,700), J.K. Dobbins ($3,700)

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions, $6,900 — Jones has had a few up-and-down performances lately but still has elite upside in this favorable matchup against Detroit’s secondary. Jones is still averaging 5.3 catches for 89 yards per sim and has hauled in 14 touchdowns in 20 contests. He has only scored one of those touchdowns in his past five games, but he still has the ratings and matchup advantages to put up a monster game. Jones has a 96 overall rating, 99 awareness rating, 92 speed rating and a 98 spectacular catching rating. He has had two quiet games lately, so look for a big-time bounce-back game against the Lions

Other Options — Courtland Sutton ($7,100), Will Fuller V ($6,000)

DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos, $5,300 — The Panthers’ WR1 is actually much more affordable than Carolina’s WR3 Curtis Samuel ($6,700), who has been hot lately. Moore has actually been more reliable over the long haul, though, and is averaging 4.6 catches for 59.4 yards per contest. He has scored five touchdowns in Madden 21, and four of those scores have come in his past nine games. He has produced double-digit DKFP in half of his games and should be in a good spot to return solid value in this matchup in the virtual Mile High City. Moore has a very solid 93 speed rating and 89 awareness rating, which sets him up as a big-play threat for Carolina.

Willie Snead IV, Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans, $3,500 — Snead has had some success for the Ravens while working out of the slot. He scored a touchdown in their win over the Texans earlier this week and finished with 10.4 DKFP on three catches for 14 yards. He has multiple catches in 13 of his 16 games and has averaged 2.9 receptions and 24.5 yards per contest. Snead doesn’t have an extremely high ceiling, but he is a very cheap way to get some production in this favorable matchup against the Texans.

Other Options — Calvin Ridley ($5,500), Russell Gage ($4,700), Danny Amendola ($3,800)

Tight End

T.J. Hockenson, Detroit Lions at Atlanta Falcons, $4,900 — The only TE on this slate averaging over 10 DKFP is Hockenson, who has hauled in five touchdowns in his 16 sims while averaging 4.5 catches for 46.2 yards per sim. He had five catches, 63 yards, a touchdown and 17.3 DKFP against Atlanta in their earlier matchup in Madden and has at least 9.0 DKFP in 11 of 16 contests. His volume and upside are unmatched by the other TEs available on this slate.

Other Option — Hayden Hurst ($4,300)

Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos, $3,900 — Thomas has been much more involved in the Panthers’ Madden offense than he has been in real life and has been a solid option if you need a value TE. Thomas had a touchdown in each of his past two games with 12.4 DKFP against Houston and 17.4 DKFP against the Bengals. He has averaged 3.5 catches for 34.8 yards per sim and has been pretty consistent with over 7.0 DKFP in seven of his past nine games. He doesn’t get the volume that Hockenson does, but does have the potential to lead all TEs on this slate if he can get into the end zone.

Other Option — Darren Fells ($3,500)

Falcons DST vs. Detroit Lions, $3,200 — Of the six teams on this slate, the Lions are the team that has struggled the most on offense, so the Falcons’ defense has a good matchup. They have racked up 49 sacks in their 20 sims along with 13 takeaways and a pair of defensive touchdowns. They had 6.0 DKFP in their first matchup with Detroit and have at least 5.0 DKFP in nine of their past 17 contests.

Other Option — Broncos ($3,100)

Ravens DST vs. Houston Texans Bengals, $2,900 — The Ravens haven’t been quite as effective as Atlanta at getting to the QB or forcing turnovers, but they have been excellent at limiting their opponents’ scoring. Baltimore has 33 sacks in 17 games with six takeaways. In their most recent game, the Ravens had their first fumble recovery and had 3.0 DKFP against the Texans. They’re a relatively safe play in this rematch, and they’ll look to force Deshaun Watson into more mistakes and continue the Texans’ struggles with turnovers.
