Well, we’ve made it. It’s been a crazy season, but tonight marks the beginning of the World Series. Remarkably, even with the turbulence that came with the condensed schedule and COVID-19, the two teams with the best records during the regular season will face off for the championship. Let’s dive into Game 1 and discuss a couple of wagers to possibly consider.

Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Dodgers
Rays Over 2.5 Runs (-143)
It looked like the Rays were going to cruise to the World Series after jumping out to a 3-0 series lead against the Astros in the ALCS. However, they lost three-straight, which included two one-run losses. They did ultimately prevail in Game 7, thanks in large part to an excellent performance from Charlie Morton. Their lineup also contributed four runs thanks to a couple of early home runs provided by Randy Arozarena and Mike Zunino.
Despite not having many flashy names in their lineup, the Rays have scored at least three runs in six-straight games. They lead all teams with 25 home runs in the playoffs, so they’ve clearly shown that they can be dangerous. Facing Clayton Kershaw is no easy task, but the Rays did perform better against left-handed pitchers this season, recording a .794 OPS against them compared to a .738 OPS versus righties. The Dodgers’ bullpen has also shown plenty of flaws, so the Rays might be able to tack on a run or two late in the game. Since they only need three runs to hit the over, this could prove to be a profitable wager.

Randy Arozarena Over 0.5 Hits (-150)
Arozarena is making a name for himself in the playoffs. He’s hitting a robust 21-for-55 (.382) with seven home runs, three doubles and a triple. That’s included him logging at least one hit in 11 of 14 games. When you consider the level of talent that he’s faced, his performance is even more impressive. He’s actually built on a strong regular season in which he finished with a .422 wOBA and a 176 wRC+. Having the lefty Kershaw on the mound might not be a huge detriment to Arozarena considering he hit .400 with a 291 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers this season. Add in the Dodgers’ lackluster bullpen and Arozarena has a favorable opportunity to continue his recent run of success.
