What Olympic basketball semifinal bracket looks like for women's tournament

Team USA has advanced in women's basketball. We break down the semifinal bracket.

The 2021 Tokyo Olympics women's basketball tournament has reached the semifinal round of the knockout stage. The quarterfinals wrapped up Wednesday morning and the semifinals are scheduled for Friday, August 6. The bronze medal game will follow on Saturday and the gold medal game will wrap up the Olympics on Sunday.

Team USA advanced to the semifinals with a 79-55 win over Australia. The Opals had upset the United States in exhibition play, but this time it was not close. Team USA took an 8-6 lead at the 7:20 mark of the first quarter and never surrendered the lead. Breanna Stewart led the way with 23 points and added five rebounds. Brittney Griner had 15 points and eight rebounds and Tina Charles and Sylvia Fowles combined for 13 rebounds. Chelsea Gray led the way with eight assists.

Team USA remains a heavy gold medal favorite, installed at -1100 at DraftKings Sportsbook coming out of the quarterfinals. They will face Serbia in the semifinals and open as a 17-point favorite. The other semifinal will feature Japan taking on France.
