The 2021 Tokyo Olympics have reached the medal rounds of the boxing schedule, and we’ve already seen two gold medals handed out. Japan’s Sena Irie took home the women’s featherweight gold medal and Cuba’s Roniel Iglesias won the men’s welterweight gold.
On Wednesday, August 4th, the light heavyweight division will close the day handing out the gold medal. Cuba’s Arlen Lopez faces Great Britain’s Benjamin Whittaker in a bout scheduled to start at approximately 2:35 a.m. ET.
Earlier in the morning, we will get six semifinal bouts at three weight classes. The women’s flyweight and welterweight divisions will determine the gold medal finalists. DraftKings Sportsbook has odds on the flyweight semifinals. Turkey’s Buse Naz Carkiroglu is a -330 favorite against Chinese Taipei’s Hsiao-Wen Huang, who is a +255 underdog. Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s Stoyka Krasteva is a -145 favorite against Japan’s Tsukimi Namiki, who is a +120 underdog.
The other pair of semifinal bouts are the men’s super heavyweight tournament. Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov is a massive -1000 favorite against Great Britain’s Frazer Clarke who is +650. The other bout features Kazakhstan’s Kamshybek Kunkabayev as a -150 favorite while American Richard Torrez is a +120 underdog.
The schedule will feature one other American. Oshae Jones will be fighting China’s Hong Gu in one of the women’s welterweight semifinals, starting at 1:48 a.m.
