Odds on Jessica Springsteen to win Olympic gold in Tokyo equestrian competition

The daughter of The Boss is a long shot in the individual competition, but songs about long shots are why she’s here in the first place.

Normally the Olympic equestrian events aren’t particularly popular somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, but this year the daughter of the Garden State’s most famous musical export since Frank Sinatra is in the running for a medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Jessica Springsteen will compete in both the individual jumping and team jumping competitions for Team USA. While there are 73 competitors on the list, only one has a father that’s the lyrical patron saint of the largest sports betting market in the country. And her odds are a bit better than most at DraftKings Sportsbook.

The favorite in the individual jumping competition is Martin Fuchs of Switzerland at +175, with Springsteen the 14th choice on the board at +4500. According to that math, if she gets slightly more than 41 Shots, you should be in good betting shape. And while her road might be Tougher Than The Rest, it doesn’t mean you can’t find a Reason To Believe (we’re kind of sorry, but not really??).

USA Equestrian will be amongst the favorites in the team competition, coming in at +270 and second only to the Swiss at +160. That would be an amazing prize to reward decades of hard work for anyone that’s Born In The U.S.A.

Springsteen will ride Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, which is a fine horse name I guess but not as cool as her previous mount Hungry Heart. And unlike most equestrian competitors, she will have an entire fan base back home that only knows about ponies with V8 engines cheering for her.
