There are a number of gold medal events taking place on Tuesday, July 27th, and Team USA softball will go for gold. Additionally, the American women’s artistic gymnastics team will compete for a gold medal as well with a number of high-level athletes in competition throughout the day. Below is a look at some of the top USA athletes to watch on Tuesday.
USA Athletes to watch on Tuesday, July 27th
Simone Biles is the most recognizable Olympian at this point, and she will be a part of the artistic gymnastics team going for gold. That event airs at 6:45 a.m. on NBCOlympics.com and then NBC will broadcast a replay in primetime at 8 p.m.
Team USA softball is facing Japan for the gold medal. Their two stars on the mound have been Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott, who are referred to as Fire and Ice. That game is scheduled for 7 a.m. and will air live on NBC Sports Network.
The women’s triathlon will take place starting at 5:30 a.m. and is loaded with American talent. Katie Zaferes is the DraftKings Sportsbook favorite at +275, with Summer Rappoport (+1100) and Taylor Knibb (+1400) also in the mix.
Additionally, a day after Austrailian swimmer Ariarne Titmus edged out Katie Ledecky in the 400-meter freestyle, we get another Aussie vs. American battle, as Kaylee McKeown takes on Regan Smith for gold. McKeown is the favorite at -175, with Smith the +100 underdog in the head-to-head.
Finally, Team USA women’s basketball begins their trek to the gold medal when they face Nigeria at 12:40 a.m. ET.
