The Washington Commanders have moved on from head coach Ron Rivera after they went 4-13 in the 2023 NFL season. New ownership, led by Josh Harris, want their own pick to pair with the quarterback they take in the 2024 NFL Draft. They already have sent out a handful of requests for interviews and rumors are already picking up the day after the season finished.

Commanders head coach search

Latest news, rumors, interviews

Ben Johnson, OC Lions

The Lions quick turnaround has teams looking to borrow some of that by hiring away Dan Campbell’s coordinators. Johnson is the most sought after, as his offense has far exceeded expectations with Jared Goff under center. The Commanders have already requested an interview with Johnson, per Tom Pelissero. The No. 2 overall pick is going to be enticing to any head coach candidate this off season.

Jim Harbaugh, HC Michigan

Harbaugh is always being rumored to head back to the NFL, but he’s stayed with Michigan for the last nine season. It does appear that he is weighing his options though, as he has hired agent Don Yee to explore NFL jobs. The Commanders are reportedly interested in Harbaugh and have reached out to his agent, per Jordan Schultz.

Aaron Glenn, DC Lions

Along with the offensive coordinator, the Commanders have requested an interview with their defensive coordinator as well, per Tom Pelissero. The Lions defense hasn’t been on par with their offense, but teams will also look to Glenn to bring a similar culture with him from the Lions.

Raheem Morris, DC Rams

The Commanders have requested an interview with Morris, per Jonathan Jones. Morris is currently the Rams defensive coordinator, but also has head coaching experience with the Buccaneers.
