What are the chances the Seahawks make the playoffs?

We discuss whether or not Seattle Seahawks will make the 2024 NFL Playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks won a wild Monday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles to wrap up Week 15. Backup QB Drew Lock, starting in place of an injured Geno Smith, connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 29-yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left to cap a game-winning 10-play, 92-yard drive.

The Seahawks improved to 7-7 with the victory and moved into eighth place in the NFC wild card standings. They are tied with the Vikings, Rams, and Saints. LA has the divisional tiebreaker over Seattle, having swept the season series. Minnesota would have the conference record tiebreaker over Seattle if LA slipped behind. Seattle has the conference record tiebreaker over New Orleans.

Upcoming Schedule

Week 16: @ Titans
Week 17: vs. Steelers
Week 18: @ Cardinals

The Seahawks have been inconsistent enough that no schedule is a cakewalk. Nonetheless, these are three very winnable games. The Titans matchup gets intriguing with Ryan Tannehill potentially playing in place of an injured Will Levis. The Cardinals are an intriguing one with Kyler Murray a regularly dangerous threat. The Seahawks could go 3-0 in this stretch, but I have a hunch they drop one of them, either to Tennessee or Arizona.

Final record prediction: 9-8

Current NFC playoff standings

1. San Francisco 49ers, 11-3 — clinched playoff berth
2. Dallas Cowboys, 10-4 — clinched playoff berth
3. Detroit Lions, 10-4
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 7-7

5. Philadelphia Eagles, 10-4 — clinched playoff berth
6. Minnesota Vikings, 7-7
7. Los Angeles Rams, 7-7

8. Seattle Seahawks, 7-7
9. New Orleans Saints, 7-7
10. Atlanta Falcons, 6-8
11. Green Bay Packers, 6-8

Even with a loss in their final three games, 9-8 should be enough to get Seattle into the playoffs. Running through ESPN’s NFL Playoff Machine, Minnesota, Atlanta, and New Orleans have some tough matchups the rest of the way that could cost them. Seattle’s chances are closer to a coin flip right now, but I think they slip in with the final wild card berth.
