Update: Boyle finished 7-of-14 for 33 yards with an interception. Still, there could be a quarterback change moving forward despite head coach Robert Saleh constantly saying that Zach Wilson will remain their quarterback.
The New York Jets have benched starting quarterback Zach Wilson against the Buffalo Bills. Tim Boyle comes into the game late into the third quarter with the Jets down 29-6. With how Wilson has been playing, you have to assume that Boyle is almost auditioning to be the team’s starter next week against the Miami Dolphins if he can get the offense to display some rhythm.
Unless he is forced to come back into the game, Wilson will finish 7-of-15 passing for 81 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The score was a nine-yard pass to running back Breece Hall out of the backfield. Wilson attempted a two-point conversion but was unsuccessful. He did add 15 yards on four carries but ultimately was unable to solve the Bills’ defense.
Boyle finished his first drive 3-of-3 for 14 yards. It ended pre-emptively as he completed a pass to Garrett Wilson, but the star wide receiver fumbled when he was hit. It is worth mentioning that Garrett was held without a reception with Zach under center, but he picked up both of his receptions so far from Boyle.
More to come.
