Breaking down the NFL standings coming out of Week 2

The NFL is chugging along through Week 2 and with the 1 p.m. ET games wrapping up, it’s time for an updated look at the divisional standings heading toward Week 3.

The biggest upset of the morning belongs to the Jaguars who embarrassed the Colts in Jacksonville. The Jaguars have good home history against Indy, but Matt Ryan was supposed to turn this Colts franchise around. Instead, they’re 0-1-1 out of the gate.

Below are the eight divisional standings, along with some quick thoughts about each division after two weeks of football. We’ll update with the late afternoon and primetime results the rest of Sunday and Monday.

AFC East

The Patriots held off a late Steelers comeback attempt to get their first win. The Jets came back late to stun the Browns in the closing seconds. Miami impressed with a win over the Ravens that featured a 21-point comeback. The Bills closed the week with an impressive thumping of the Titans on Monday Night Football.

4. New York Jets, 1-1

AFC North

Mitch Trubisky struggled as the Steelers lost to the Patriots. The Browns lost a shocker to the Jets in the closing seconds. Baltimore was stunned as well, blowing a 21-point fourth quarter leader to the Dolphins. The Bengals fought back against the Cowboys but lost on a last second field goal.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers, 1-1
4. Cincinnati Bengals, 0-2

AFC South

The Jaguars stunned the Colts in a dominant effort to get their first W. The Texans almost stunned the Broncos, but couldn’t quite get it together late and dropped it. The Titans looked rough in an ugly loss to the Bills.

3. Indianapolis Colts, 0-1-1
4. Tennessee Titans, 0-2

AFC West

The Chiefs came back to overcome a Chargers upset effort and take over first place in the division. The Broncos somehow managed to win a hideous game against the Texans and have a lot to figure out. The Raiders blew a winnable game in rough fashion against the Cardinals.

NFC East

The Giants-Panthers game wasn’t pretty, but Daniel Jones and company did enough to get the win and a rather surprising 2-0 start to the season. Washington came up short in a comeback attempt in Detroit. Cooper Rush impressed to get the Cowboys a win over the Bengals. The Eagles closed the week with a thumping of the Vikings.

4. Dallas Cowboys, 1-1

NFC North

The Lions held off a huge Commanders comeback to get their first win of the season. The Packers beat the Bears on Sunday Night Football. The Vikings closed the week with a tough loss in Philadelphia.

3. Detroit Lions, 1-1
4. Green Bay Packers, 1-1

NFC South

The Bucs struggled against the Saints, but a late surge helped them get the win, which also marked Tom Brady’s first regular season win against New Orleans. The Panthers lost an ugly one to the Giants. The Falcons put up a valiant effort in Week 2 but came up short against the Rams.

3. Atlanta Falcons, 0-2
4. Carolina Panthers, 0-2

NFC West

The Rams bounced back but nearly blew it against the Falcons. The 49ers overcame a season-ending injury to Trey Lance to beat the Seahawks. The Cardinals came back and won a wild overtime game against the Raiders to even up the division at 1-1.
