Panthers sign D.J. Moore to 3-year extension

The Carolina Panthers are giving their best receiver a new contract extension on a three-year deal, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Moore has earned an extension, as he’s played well for a number of quarterbacks and coaches in his short four year career. He’ll get paid $61.8 million in new money with a guaranteed payout of $41.6 million.

Moore has topped 1,000 yards in his last three seasons and hit his high in receptions last year with 93. His yards per catch plummeted with the rag-tag bunch of quarterbacks the Panthers rolled out last season, but he remained a top receiver overall.

He will have a tough time pushing his statistical boundaries if the Panthers can’t land an upgrade at quarterback in 2022, but there’s no doubt he’ll remain their go-to receiver. It appears Deshaun Watson won’t be signing with the Panthers per multiple reports, but there are a few possibilities still out there with Jimmy Garoppolo, Jameis Winston, Baker Mayfield, Matt Ryan and Marcus Mariota possibly moving on to new teams this offseason.
