Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon made his presence felt in the team’s preseason matchup with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. The veteran snagged a few catches, including one that went for six.
Stats
McKinnon caught three passes for 21 yards, one of them being a six-yard touchdown off of play action that put them up 17-0 in the third quarter.
In the run game, he only received three touches for four yards. He was able to get a few more touches as a result of Darrel Williams entering concussion protocol.

Analysis
The veteran back truly showed his versatility on multiple fronts for KC on Friday. Not only is the running back an effective weapon in the passing game, he’s also a literal weapon on special teams. Take a look at this still shot of the block he made on a kick return.

Fantasy implications
McKinnon was listed third on the latest unofficial depth chart and barring further injury to Williams, that’s about where he’ll be heading into the season. While not a primary option within the loaded Chiefs offense, his versatility will come of use at some point. He’d be worth taking a flyer on as someone to pick up as a free agent midway through the season.
